Confused as a new player regarding the new servers?

I have been eyeing on ToS for a while and decided to give it a try.

But I saw the new server news and wondering what I should do?

Am I supposed to pre-register and wait til 18th to play the game? And not be able to play on existing servers beforehand?

yes, you register then wait till the 18th,
and you can’t make characters on the old servers, since its going to be a problem when the servers merge.

But would it be recommended to play in the new server for a beginner? Or would the existing servers be better off? West US btw.

if u never played before, then yes,
it would be better for new players, bcuz of the benefits u will have.
but i don’t know about the community. if it would be populated or lonely. i’m not familiar with the wester community of iToS, im from asian server. but if u can persevere for 3 months and wait for the merge, so it will be okay eventually

Problem is: as a new player you will play on a server where 99% of the population will be bots only there to farm shards. So zero economy. Zero socialization. Total emptiness.

yes, that would be one challenge u will be facing, especially if there are not a lot of new players. but we’ll just have to wait and see.

So…just start on NA server and wait for future merge? I don’t really care for starting bonuses, would rather have large active player base

I’m a beginner myself. If you’re like me and like to take your time doing all the maps then the new server is NOT the way to go. I’m already 35 level higher than the map (level 95 atm) and I almost one shot every monsters and boss from the quests.
I know it will become harder but for now it’s too easy and it will be easier on the new server.

Here’s the thing.

Leveling is absurdly fast right now even without the boosts–and if you find a good guild to help you, most people will be fully leveled in like 2-3 weeks max, and then maybe another 2-3 weeks max on top of that to get geared enough to be able to do end game stuff. It took one new player 3 months to be fully best in slot–including the really difficult stuff like accessories, and that was with changing mains in the middle of it, most other brand new players that I know of are able to do endgame things in 4-6 weeks.

The bottleneck is still attributes and transcend, but the base game just throws events at you to get caught up over and over again, and even at a low level, you can jump into guild events and get a ton of attributes every week.

Hello

I do not recomend anything. I’m just giving my feedback as a new player. I believe that for a new player the perspective of an other new player is very relevant. I know that I don’t know anything about the game yet. But for a casual new player that is not what matters. I’m just saying that the leveling is already too fast for me. I can’t take the time to explore without overpowering everything and I would certainly not enjoy an other boost of xp.

By comparison, I played the game a few years ago and it took me 60hours just to make it to the level 85. It was long and hard but it was a very good memory. (I gave up the game at that time because my friend was not interested. I’m alone this time.) I know that This time, even if I’m just at the very begining, I have yet to get any memory of anything. The boss of the story, even I they are beautiful are all dead after two skills.

What I’m trying to say is that I know that it is not relevant in the long run. I know I saw nothing of the game yet but that doesn’t matter for a new player. What matter are the first hours. What matters is to find something that will keep you playing, that will make you love this game and not move away from it after a few days. And I don’t that the new servers will help in that. (But I understand that they are gold to returnee that already know the game)

I hope I’m not too confusing…

Exactly, I think every new player thinks this way about original servers

Thanks everyone for the inputs.

My biggest concern would be the active player base. Would there be any risk of existing server players flocking to the new server upon launch? Seems like existing players who pre-register get choices to move to the new server as I understand it, so I do not want to be in the risk of being left alone if I start now in existing servers.

Are all the servers being merged months after?

And which server is the most active currently?

me and my friend’s plan at first were to go to new server and create alts to have some fun and farm a bit due to the server bonuses. but seeing on Feb 11 is also the release date for the new classes 4ever update, i doubt existing players who invested alot of time and points on their old accounts would flock to the new server now.

yes, they would eventually merge to their respective counterparts, old klapedia - new klapedia, old telsiai - new telsiai etc…

eh? WHAAAAATTTT??? where did you get that info??

@GM_Francis @STAFF_Yuri insert all good wishes and thank you because IMC deliver episode 12 far more earlier than any ktos player predicted (>march)

Why would active players go there? At the same time, episode 12 is released, and if like me you have a truckload of level 420 chars you would have no time restarting from scratch on a server with only shard-farming bots. Leveling up all the chars to 450, party CM, new quests, testing the new classes, fine tuning builds after skill balance patch, Varna farming, clearing raids for trinket ichors, getting powder for the arks… I’m sure this will be enough during the next three months without having to split my play time in two!
