Concerned about F2P release while dungeons are still broken

Let me start by saying that I am about as supportive of this game as it gets. I’ve been on IMC’s side in so many arguments that one person actually accused me of being an employee. I have been waiting for this game for over 3 years and I am thrilled to be playing it now that it’s out and to actually have a suitable replacement for RO. I have 3 characters above level 100 and have spent $100.00 so far. So this criticism/concern is definitely coming from someone who is concerned about the welfare of the game.

Scheduling this game for F2P release while dungeons are still broken is a huge mistake. To explain why, let’s back up and talk about what dungeons mean exactly.

  • Dungeons/Missions are a key means of XP gain. Packed with elite mobs that give bonus xp, multiplied by a 600% for using “Search for party” (or 4xx% for a premade featuring 1 of each base class).

  • Dungeons are the MOST important means of loot farming for all levels, but especially so once you have unlocked 175, 190 and 200.

  • Dungeons/Missions are severely limited. 2 runs per day. (Down from 5 in KTOS)

  • Dungeons/Missions are a key part of token benefits. +1 run per day.

With all of that in mind, wouldn’t you agree that it’s really important that dungeons work as intended? And yet here we are a FULL MONTH into game release and they aren’t. They haven’t worked well at all from day 1.

First there was the Commander Loadfail and his hatred of premade groups. The bane of static parties and boss rushers. That lasted from release until 2 weeks afterwards. Then that got fixed at the cost of search for party:

Resetting queues bug. This problem introduced on April 12th still exists today. I personally have waited in these resetting queues for up to 30 minutes, but I’ve heard of people waiting in queue for up to an hour. Completely unacceptable.

Furthermore, somehow during server transfer maintenance this week the problem got SIGNIFICANTLY worse. So bad, a server wide announcement was made to tell people to stay out of dungeons:

This system announcement went out 1:41 AM on Wednesday. Since then there have been 3 dungeon/missions resets which means if you are an active player with a token trying to get the most out of it you have missed out on 12 stable dungeon and mission runs. In my 2 attempts at a dungeon run last night, both ended in a hard disconnect that ended the run, and 1 of my missions last night ended in a hard disconnect before we could even kill the first boss. This is an unmitigated disaster.

#How do you expect to handle F2P launch with all the issues that it entails while still fixing this issue?

Dungeons have never worked in release. In a full month, not one single day have we had fully functional dungeons. This is awful. You designed dungeons to be a core, integral part of item hunting, of xp gain, of the token benefits which you are intending to use for income, they need to be functional and working!

The only communication from you is to “not enter instanced dungeons”. How is this an acceptable solution??? The past 4 days have been by far the most frustrating experiences I’ve had playing ToS. Even more frustrating than launch week’s questing delays. Entering a dungeon to be booted a few minutes later consuming your run is toxic and needs IMMEDIATE resolution, and hopefully compensation for the worst bug this game’s dungeons have ever seen.

Furthermore, this needs to be fixed 100% before F2P goes live and you are shooting yourself in the foot. Can you imagine being a F2P player, hitting level 50 and heading into the juicy dungeon that is going to give you a +5 level boost only to get booted 2 pulls in and having 1 of your 2 runs consumed? It’s a nightmare. How can this person possibly feel motivated to save for a token when its primary benefit is broken?

Also, if somehow the problem still persists, how will you possibly find the time to work on it between releasing new servers, working with the massive influx of new players + bots/RMT and keeping existing players happy? The F2P release should be a time for celebration when skeptics and patient players can join us and community can be whole once again, but right now it doesn’t feel like that at all.

I understand that self publishing an international release is difficult. In fact, difficult is a drastic understatement, but this dungeon disconnect issue wasn’t a problem until 4 days ago. Please restore confidence and fix this issue that you somehow introduced during the team transfer 24 hr maintenance.

Thanks for reading.

Never mind the dungeons server stability and optimization are poor in general. They really should just delay till their intended release date and get ■■■■ running properly.

I’m tired of not getting a response from IMC so tagging all the staff…

If we tag them in enough of these topics eventually they will say something right?

Well, the only reason I could think \why they haven’t made an official announcement is because the dev team couldn’t figure out what is causing it yet…

Maybe but they could say “We have not identified the cause yet and are working towards pin pointing the source of the issue.”

It would be nice if there was at least an announcement about it. Not everyone was online at 1:41AM on Weds…

Weekend is coming  We spending weekend with no dungeons?~
I’m surprised though none of my Siaulau runs had been dc-ed except after we finish the dungeon and kicked back to character select.

I dread the level-based dungeon runs I will do tonight and this weekend. (Arde boss rush was fine but I haven’t done a full run the last 3 days)

I don’t know! And that’s what makes it so frustrating. You can probably get in, but then you get to spend the entire run stressed waiting for the “DISCONNECTED” message ._.

Once again i would expect no changes till Tuesday IMC doesn’t move to fast.

Right in the feels. Please respawn, devs and staffs.

why do we have less dungeons than kTOS

this turning into some iRO/kRO shenanigans real fast.

You notice that they release costumes and haven’t fixed the fps bug? It’s because it’s the F2P style (not assuming they aren’t ). They have to paid attention more than the bugs like that. That’s why F2P fails and there has been no mmorg that’s stronger than FF14.

WoW, which had a good start and has lived off its mass, losing players every year but its so large it continues to survive.

But yea if this goes under im going right back to 14 lol

Just got DC’d from another dgn run. Man this is so annoying. I really hope this tuesday has a fix.

These issues are not present on every server. Matter of fact these are a Klaipedia and SEA server issue from what I’ve experienced and seen. If its anything like the beta (it is) then its the massive load those servers are getting from being overpopulated. They need to increase the server load for both of them. Klaipedia from what I can see is doing better after the transfers.

I am well into rank 7 and have only ever done the random party finder for the level 50 dungeon and have otherwise been in premade groups for every other dungeon.

Two[Three] runs per day for XP is fine. That being said I would like to have 5 Global dungeon runs but keep the 2(3) limit on dungeons that way people have to think about how to spread their runs out for XP or loot.

Delaying launch more won’t help in any way to make the improvements. Plus, it’s launch to beta…

The new disconnect issue was not even around until after the transfers. Something changed during the transfer maintenance to cause this issue. I hope they can undo it.

I can’t speak to which servers are affected as I only play on klaipeda.

They have a limited amount of people to work on issues.

F2P launch will come with a host of issues. That will cause people to stop working on the dungeon fix (BTW, just got another disconnect 3 pulls into dungeon. gg)

This is pretty basic common sense. Also stop calling it beta. This is live iTOS. There is no excuse anymore for these problems. They need to be resolved immediately.

IMC needs to increase the instance server capacity.

As of now, all I’m getting are non-stop commander load fails. I went to sleep yesterday night after getting dc’ed in dungeon and couldn’t return, thinking the issue would be resolved. Guess I won’t be able to get any instance runs done this weekend.

A core component of the game not working is INEXCUSABLE, especially more so when it is tied to premium benefits where people actually paid extra for. Right now I don’t even care what kind of compensation they give, I have a whole bunch of it sitting in my inventory and I don’t give a flying f any more.

My patience is wearing thin
