Complaints about lag is deterring me

hey guys, tree of saviors seemed like a really cool game and i was super hyped that it was released recently.

however i am debating if i should play this game due to the complaints on lag.
i did some research a few days ago and i have learnt that the game is heavily delayed in all aspects. the fact that i am from australia does not benefit me either as TOS does not have an oceanic server.

is TOS really as laggy as people make it out to be? i searched through forums today and there were no recent posts on this matter.

idk what category to post this in lol . thankz

Yes. It’s pretty bad. For example, talking to NPC to accept a quest sometimes takes 10 seconds for the servers to react. Items you want to pickup, can’t be picked up for 20 seconds because of lag. Trying to use/equip items results in the same amount of lag.

But the combat is pretty decent. When attacking or using skills, I haven’t noticed lag bigger than 300-400ms. It’s still pretty big ping, considering it flunctuates a lot between 140 and 400ms for me, but it’s playable when it comes to combat.

I’m an EU player (UK) with rural internet (8mbs) and I have had very few issues with lag during peak UK times.

There are some spikes now and then, a little rubber-banding or some waits for quests/items to register I clicked them, however this isn’t a constant and happens maybe three or four times over a four hour play session.

IMO the games well worth the pre-order price, or F2P account in a months time. The launch issues are being addressed well too with good communication and apology from IMC.

If you didnt get in now wait 2 months.
In 1 months you will have lots of f2p people and we will have lags ones more.

I play on a US server from Europe.

Lag isn’t that bad at all. Probably spike now and again but it’s not like serious. You can ignore it.

Some NPC have a delay or interactive objects. Just spam click them and it works eventually…

There is lag but not to the point you can’t play. It’s also getting better daily.

I play from Europe, i got lag at times but nothing as serious as many other people are complaining about. i also get in between 40-60 FPS all the time… and maybe i was very lucky but i was quequed only once when logging in

EDIT

BTW i forgot to mention that i’m not even connectred via cable but i’m using wi-fi… i gues that’s an important detail

I’m from australia as well bro. SEA is the best option so far. with pingzapper Takes away the delay and stuff.

The lag is really just from over-population. As people start losing interest/stop playing/IMC improves the servers, things will start running more and more smoothly.

I say, just play it. The lag annoys everyone, but it’s not going to stop you from playing outright.

Ignore all the complaining.

It was the same in iCBT2 and within a week, everything settled down and the game was fine.

Problem right now is that people are all jammed into two primary servers that were first opened. Once the EU/SEA transfers start and majority of EU/SEA players transfer, everything should be fine.

I’m also still playing on Klaipeda, because I already made progress, but I’ll be transferring to EU server once everything is setup.

Quitting the game altogether over this is sort of a permanent (well, as long as you stay away from the game for real) solution to a temporary problem.

There is a reason why people keep playing even though lag right now can get unbearable at the peak hours.

The game is good and fun. Yes, there are issues, but at the core the game is awesome and if they keep developing it, it’s gonna be a beast game in the future.

fps has nothing to do with ping lag tho.

Orsha is pretty much unplayable starting from eu primetime untill morning. (with eu ping)

To give an example: one quest required me to place a bomb on an enemy. The progress bar didnt even show up at all. As such I was unable to complete the quest.

I suspect its less laggy on the new SEA and EU servers tho, since their population is smaller.

I know it has nothing to do with ping… but it seems to be an issue for some players so i pointed it out.

You know, I have a constant 140+ fps, but when moving around any open area, the game still stutters for a few dozens of miliseconds, and it happens like every few seconds.

It’s literally impossible to experience a smooth graphical feel in this game, with all the random stuttering. Before someone attacks me saying “it’s your PC dude”, no it’s not my hardware’s fault. Running everything from SSD, 4790k OC’d at 4,9Ghz, GTX 980. Heck, with this setup I can run even Black Desert at constant 80+ fps. It’s just the fact that ToS is so badly coded, you will get stutters no matter what.

Hoping you read this TS. The lag is extremely bad because the server is bottlenecked. IMC didn’t expect such huge sales right before the EA launch.

It is to be expected that the server will reach its limits with the huge amount of players pouring in, not to mention, they are from different regions.

There is already a Fedimian server for EU and Telsiai for SEA. They have alot less playerbase at the moment, try playing there and check out the ping for yourself. If you’re really close to the servers but still got very bad ping, by then I will admit that it’s the servers, not the zerg rush of the players.
