Complaining about an Early Access Game

So… on this forum i’ve seen hundreds of people up today, complaining about the fact that they paid for a game and they got a “buggy mess” etc etc… a lot of people state that “early access” means that the game is “tecnically” complete and not in beta anymore and you just pay to play it before the other.

I really didn’t know how to respond to this… so well… when i found this video tonight i decided to let it speak for me.

So here you go, enjoy.

but this game is not that.

there’s the Steam Early Access Games … which have a big blue border around the “letter from the devs” about why they’re doing “Early Access”
…but all you monkeys can’t seem to tell the difference between that and this.

it would have been better if they had called it “Exclusive Access” instead. because that’s what it is; buying it to get “exclusive access” to the finished game, 1 month before the non-paying peasants.

more accurately, it would be better to say that the non-paying customers have a 1 month delayed access (but that isn’t nearly as PR-friendly).

What this guy said ^

Added on top of the fact that any game, finished, beta, alpha, “exclusive access” all need feedback. If this is another open beta like so many claim, feedback. If this is a slice of what launch is going to be like, feedback. If your m8 is having issues logging on, feedback. Granted any monkey with 10 dollars and a computer is in this “Early Access” so the feedback is going to be crude, but it’s there. It might just not be in the most well thought and constructive fashion, so comprehend beneath that and see the issue at the core.
At the end all feed back dwindles down to some root cause.

1 month from now after this game goes free, nobody is even going to be talking about paid early access anymore.

The game will be free, then people will find something else to complain about.

All the stuff they’re complaining about now.

Except it’s not listed as early access game on steam. Just advertised as such.

So I don’t understand what you’re trying to say. Exclusive access is a marketing ploy to gain capital and to ease access to large amount of people.

This was the reason they gave not because their game was not ready for release.

Educate yourself before making another dumb thread.

But if they could educate themselves, we wouldn’t be seeing this stupidity.

I don’t understand the argument going on about this or how even people came to the conclusion that this is a “finished game” based on the “early access” term. It is advertised as an mmo that is likely to be added on to and as long as its added onto its not a finished game. Also each addition to the game is likely to produce bugs some of which could be game breaking. Essentially this game will probably always be a little bit buggy even when they finished updating it.

I don’t understand why people continue to defend this game with zero awareness of what’s actually going on. Please do some research before you start posting.

It’s okay to have an opinion but if you’re basing all your arguments on literally things you have no idea about you’re just wasting everyone’s time.

I’m going to give you a bit of context since you clearly just join this game. I’ll fill you in on what’s actually going on so you don’t have to be so confused. The people who are defending this game(people like you I assume) are justifying the bugs/problems that are present on the fact that it’s early access.

Which is unfathomable to me because the issue that people are angry about weren’t even in close beta! This is not a bug that came out of no where and IMC are trying to fix it. It’s DECISIONS that IMC have made to try to make the most money that they can.

There was a trading system in close beta
There were higher spawn rates
The issue of server over loading was something that already happen in the past.

These issues weren’t bugs, they aren’t something that is going to change once this game goes out of early access.

Besides the fact that it’s unethical to not list your game as an early access game if you’re game is not ready for full release. We are only responding to those who used early access as some sort of dumb justification as to why there are so many wrong things implemented in the game.

Should I understanding when there are bugs? Sure.

Should I be understanding when they had a complete game before launch in close beta. Then on “early access” release changed the game into a complete mess in order to make as much money as they can? Not really.

I agree, in fact this post is ONLY For those people complaining about bugs etc because they consider ToS a “completely finished game” just because they paid money for an “early access”,

If we talk about trading and other very bad gamemplay decisions you’ll find out, if you search around the forum, that i’m totally on your side about that.

Excuse me but I’ve been watching on this game for a really long time ago and have waited for it to come out for a long while now especially since I’m one of those who played Ragnarok online when it first came out. I also have been playing online mmos for about 14+ or so years as someone who prefers to free to play. I’ve done close beta testing and open beta for a plethora of the games some of which are currently out there right now while others have closed down. I’ve been upset about being unable to play games because of paywalls and other issues but this game is one of the smoothest playing mmos I’ve have the pleasure of playing in a long while with a fairly unique building and stat system. Yes its little bit broken in places and needs to be fixed other places yes but in my experience it not completely unplayable or unenjoyable and, of matter of fact, I’ve thoroughly enjoyed this game. My awareness of this game and how mmos work is not zero and I would appreciate it if you wouldn’t attack me with presumptions based on what you think my experience is with games are or the mistaken perception of what others are calling white knighting. I’m sorry you are having such a terrible time with this game but as a person playing this game and as someone who prefers to play this game as a free to player I simply disagree, believe that many of the posters are being very unfair about the game, and believe this to be one of the best mmos I’ve played in a long while. Although it might seem like IMC is being money greedy I can tell you they are not even as a free player. If anything I would be more worried that they aren’t making a profit off of it like many other Korean mmos have had problems with recently. (The reason Korean mmos have been dying as of late.) Many of the games I left for this one had much more ridiculous restrictions and problems than this one has. The others being completely unplayable when you get to a certain point unless you spent over $150 to get over restrictions and other necessary expense to continue playing. Again I’m sorry your having such a bad time with the game but I like it the way it is not because I want to blindly defend IMC but because I believe it to be a legitimately good game.

Yeah, you been watching the game for the long time while the people who are providing real feedback were playing it.

I’m not making presumptions about you. I’m literally replying based of what you’re saying. You misunderstood as to what people are talking about and try to defend the game using a misinformed fact. If that’s not blindly defending it then what is?

You don’t need to tell me your life gaming history. It really doesn’t prove anything. How about you argue using facts? Maybe do some critical thinking?

Saying that there are worse games out there is not a good argument to make.

By the way if you played mmorpg for 14+ years and this game is one of the smoothest mmorpg you have played then I seriously question the games you been playing. lol…

You do realize at release people couldn’t even play the game right? For like a few days?..

That’s literally the definition of unplayable.

You know the same exact problem occurred in close beta but they still insist on releasing the game with 2 servers?

It’s normal though for games to be messy at launch but the fact that the game was unplayable is not even the worst problem. It’s all their decisions they made afterwards that they know will hurt the player’s experience.

It’s awesome that you have low standards and you think the game is going great. That’s an optimistic opinion to have. That doesn’t mean everyone else opinion’s is invalid. It definitely doesn’t mean you should be posting when you don’t really have the whole context of the situation just so you can feel good about defending the game.

I actually like this game don’t get me wrong. That’s why I’m trying so hard to provide feedback so the game doesn’t die out like many korean mmorpg you’re talking about. Help this game out by actually leading it to the right direction instead of blindly defending it without thinking.

No I didn’t know others were completely unable to play the game. I only just came back to the forums after being fully enwrapped in the game for most of the week only to find others complaining about it. The game isn’t unplayable for me I’ve gotten to level 72 already playing it and I’ve barely even gotten lag. I have a nearly constant 60 fps only exceptions is in first and second channel in town. I’ve also no issues of crashing or disconnects. The only bugs I’ve ran into was one which was the one where you don’t receive a stat point after you level which was fixed at my next level, the reflection shield bug, and finding someone who fell through a wall at the crystal mines. (Had suggested them to use a warp scroll to get out.) Though I would understand if you had the issues you say you do its just I never had any of these problems others are complaining about and didn’t think it was an actual issue. (Even with lag since so many complain about it in game while I don’t experience it I can see others rubber band lag I thought it to be on their side.) I’m taking it though you must have been on the Klaipeda server or something. (The only server I heard of having some major issues.)

Well if you don’t really understand the issues that others are having maybe you shouldn’t make light of the issue about the people who are complaining?

These are legitimate problems. It would be awesome if everyone had a pleasant experience like you but unfortunately that wasn’t the case.

Since you’re low level I assume you recently started playing after they fix the part where the game was unplayable and people’s characters were stuck to the point where they couldn’t play anymore.

If you want more information as to why people are actually upset. Feel free to look at all the reviews written on steam. [Scroll down for the reviews]

It’s hard for me to reply to you since you don’t really reply back with anything. Just more stories about yourself. I hope I at least provide some insight as to why people are complaining in this “early access” game.

No I’ve played since the 29th but I’ve been holding myself back for other friends who have a different schedule than me and work longer hours… though I’m still much higher then them. But no I was mainly only angry because it felt like you were calling me a newbie with no experience of the game when my experience actually just appears to be completely different from yours. I didn’t take in consideration that yours was different than mine either and thought it was others being unfair because my experience was relatively smooth. I did look at the reviews though.

Some people are just naïve, expect too much from a game without an Open Beta phase or both at the same time I guess. A new game will always have issues and will take time to get to a point when it’ll be doing fine. Now on top of that people have no patience, and want changes to be made the next day.
