Compensation For The Harvest Event Exploit?

So a huge amount of people just got 6 months worth of work of gems within a few hours from the event exploit.

Is IMC going to do something to the “rest of the people”? At least some kind of compensation to balance it out a little bit?

There wasn’t even an announcement on this matter and the fix was also just applied silently. I guess IMC is just going to assume this never happened? lol

No I dont think theyll do anything. Theyll be more events like this. The overall affect on the economy is probably minimal. Mostly overblown by the forums for a short period of time. If it really messed things up, internal metrics would be the only real proof to know.

Pricing on the AH can be due to speculation and manipulation so it’s difficult to determine from that.

IF you know a ton of people that exploited. I suppose you could report them, but good luck with that as well.

It won’t affect the market that much. It’s more about the amount of progress that was given out in such a short period of time.

Imagine a random amount of ppl receive like 1000 blessed shards within a few hours due to some exploit.

Yah I suppose that sucks. But if you plan on playing this game long enough, level increases, max cap on items, etc aka the gear treadmill; tends to even the playing field temporarily.

I dont think you are gonna get much rallying support though. Even the decent people here took advantage of it.

Do I think you should get some compensation? Sure.

TL;DR
I want to be compensated for missing out on or willingly abstaining from an exploit.

There has to be a limit to how self entitled players should be.

Haha yep this is Gold…free TP to abusers

As you can see the support you’ll get is minimal. The Hueknights are just hueknighting. But like I said most of the non hueknights, also took advantage of this.

Remember ladies and gentlemen. F2P MMORPGS

Exploit early and exploit often in this genre.

Are bugs essentially bad?

I’m not expecting much out of this. And yes I already know most will either not reply or reply to “show off” that they took advantage of the exploit.

I still wanted to make a post to express how I feel.

Also I’ve sent tickets before and after the fix already.

Edit: and yes, it’s just a new low that IMC will not do anything to minimize the damages from exploits and that this game is based on who can exploit more lol.

No, your cool. And some level I do sympathize with you.

But you are not going to get that from the majority of the general section forum community here.

That’s ok. More huehue replies the better actually. They’ll make the thread bigger and longer and thus getting more attention.

That is true. We can hue all the way to the white house.

Im pretty certain MLK was like “I want my black daughter to be able to hue with this white kid”.

JFK was like, “We choose to hue, not because it is easy, but because it is difficult”

It really get’s things done?

Edit: I forget most you arent murican. You dont know who these people are.

Guess I’m one of those non hueknights then :x. (perhaps I should register to be a hueknight too… hmm)

As far as compensation wise, personally I think if @Latte0 you can come out with a good idea on how IMC can do to compensate those who aren’t at the event, perhaps the devs will take your idea into consideration. To help you here are some questions to ponder about.

  1. How do you filter out those who took advantage of the event? (from items gotten? from presence at the event maps?)

  2. From the filtered list, how can you differentiate between real players and bot accounts? If bot accounts get compensated how much impact do you think it will cause if they sell those spoils?

  3. A group of AFK (macroing or not) players should also fall into the filtered list too, do you think they are to be compensated too?

  4. So if players who spend their time doing other things during the event get compensation out from nothing, shouldn’t those who actively participate in the event get something also since they spent time doing the event instead of running DG/missions/ET? Opportunity costs?

  5. What about those who aren’t logged in at all? Or players who logged in only for an hour just to clear DG/missions then log out? Do they fall into the same bracket to be compensated too?

  6. What kind of compensation will you want to have so that it is fair and doesn’t affect the economy that much?

Sorry but it makes absolutely zero sense to compensate the non-exploiters.

The common logic is to punish the exploiters, not compensate everyone else.

IMC however decided to not do that. Probably too much work and it would also make a lot of people unhappy.

But they also couldn’t leave it the way it was. It would break the game’s economy in a few days.

Mistakes happen. Nothing can be done about it now.

You already win when @Nekorin is considering to sign up for your hueknights brigade.

He’s not a hueknight. hueknights are whihueknights. Nekorin usually brings some rational logic to the discussion, so it just doesnt work.
