That’s a skill, not an actual ‘mount’.
But it does pretty much the same thing. It even goes way faster too.
It’s very different. Mounting gives you many bonuses based on pet statuses, don’t have time limits, don’t need SP and don’t make active skills unavailable.

Hello Guys, I only started playing as a Hunter days ago. I’m level 82, C2 Hunter and I hope you can help me on my skill build. I have questions when it comes to coursing and snatching. Is it okay to put coursing on level 5? aaaand what about snatching? Are there a lot of flying monsters/bosses in game? (sorry just started playing last tuesday so I’m practically a newbie >.<). Companions take up one slot each, just like a character. However, you can use them with all of your characters. The level of your companion doesn’t matter if you use it with a low lvl or new character, you still get full exp. They are very quite useful!
Rejoice my hunter friends! KTOS now has a patch that allows companions to equip equipment!
As well as some Companion commands.
