Collection boxes and locked chests

There doesn’t seem to be much info on these to search for. I’ve been searching these forums, but basically exactly 1 topic for collection boxes and maybe 2 for locked chests.

Do collection boxes just drop from enemies? Do they come from chests that you open?

When do chests spawn and where do you get the key (slay boss for it?)
