Cloth or Plate mastery?

Serious question.

Was thinking of maybe going Cloth Mastery since I hear most players have difficulty dealing with magic in the late game, and I’m going Sword > Highlander > Highlander > Barbarian > ? > Doppel > Doppel

(Still debating on the 5th rank… it really depends on how soon we get the kToS update).

I’ve already maxed Gung Ho and Concentrate attributes, and upped the damage of some of my commonly-used abilities… just need to know which is preferred.

Plate, you’ll use plate most of the time.

If you need to go defensive you could use sage wall+2 glass bracelets, as well as Grynas Plate parts, they give mdef. And any high level Necklace with good mdef, or max petamion.

Cloth Mastery, 3-piece bonus: +10 SP per Level
Cloth Mastery, 4-piece bonus: +0.5 Magic Defense per Level
Leather Mastery, 3-piece bonus: +1 Evasion per Level
Leather Mastery, 4-piece bonus: +0.5 Evasion per level
Plate Mastery, 3-piece bonus: +34 HP per Level
Plate Mastery, 4-piece bonus: +0.3 Stamina per Level

ill go plate all day, 1700 HP and 15% physical at lvl 50 attribute is a lot better than 15%+25 m.def

How hard do mobs hit physically vs magically in the late game?

Physical damage I can sometimes mitigate with Cross Guard (and mitigate with +block in general), but Magic damage is unavoidable, so I have my concerns.

Since I’m going Doppel C2 and plan to go 10/10 DoV, I basically can’t count on defense with DoV up. It’s one of the primary reasons why I’m so on-the-fence about it X3

I’m using leather, mobs use pierce, they hit me around 2k each. but not always because of evasion.

don’t worry about magic, as long as you got cleric you’re good. (pre-ET)

My build is kinda for soloing. I probably wont be able to party much late game due to the fact that I don’t plan on going Peltasta.

I’m completely okay with being solo, but it’s kinda hard to figure out what armor-type I should focus on to make soloing easier for me.

I remember during iCBT2 the Orange Lizardman Wizards (I think in the 170-ish area) were hitting me for something ridiculous like 5000 per hit. Maybe it wasn’t that much, but I do remember it being really high. Most mobs doing physical damage, like the Wendigo Archers, I could block or sometimes evade. Maybe they were toned down since I last remember, but yeah… magic from stronger mobs can be really scary…

I really want to learn towards Cloth so I don’t have to worry about that as much, but the main problem is with gear. For example, I can’t use Plate gauntlets that give AoE Attack Ratio. i don’t think any Cloth ones do, correct me if I’m wrong. There probably won’t be any Cloth armor that ups other desired stats like STR and DEX either.

I guess I’ll just have to watch some videos of people soloing mobs in the upper levels to help me decide, but thank you for your opinion :3

If you’re going solo it’s best to avoid mage monsters in later maps. Workshop is a pretty nice map without any mage monsters. Cloth or plate, mage monsters will hurt.

I’ve linked this video several times but anyway:

Or you can increase movement speed to run away and avoid getting hit. lol…but nothing much we can do about target-lock on magic attacks.
