Client Performance Optimization Tests

No change here, game still runs badly as soon as I’m not the only player on the channel (Klaipeda, dungeons, Saalus…). However I didn’t play much yesterday and I still have to test the obvious: world boss and challenge mode.

Another positive point: no desynchs yesterday. I’ll try to test the patch more thoroughly tonight.

I verified then patched today. I’m getting smooth >60 fps (70-90) running around Klaipeda. Jumping on some corners sometimes produce fps drops.

So far it is 100x better on town now and by that I mean 10% better than it was before I took my break

now it’s time to test it on the field as soon as I finish downloading the other server patch xD

General gameplay is much better, guild raid was a managable 30 FPS with 19 players in attendance.

Still stutters frequently in town when loading player shops, so while not perfect overall this was helpful.

Not the slightest difference for me.
I expected to be able to finally dash in Klaipeda without being stopped by stutters every 2 seconds, guess what?

Still the same.
From 60-75 fps to stutters like this every few seconds.

Decent improvements on my end. Generally higher FPS, and most importantly it’s more stable. During GM Orange’s appearance she, and players, summoned bosses at 100/100 and while the FPS was bad, it was stable enough to actually play.

Pretty good improvements, and this was just one multiple patches coming.

In general I felt a significant change.

  • Solo content = stable 60 FPS as it has been for some time, perfect

  • 5-man content (Dungeons) = unstable 60 fps: several FPS drops and occasional stutters during skill spams.
However, it is now much better than it was before.

  • Environment crowded with active players = Haven’t tested yet.

  • Town = Still a mess, a lot of stutters and graphic glitches, such as:

    1. Floating heads
    2. Shadow circles disappearing when getting closer, but reappearing after taking a certain distance
    3. Selling stalls feel as if they consume more resources than they should to load their 3D objects (chair, tables, tabletops, spawn animation)

Can attest improved FPS stability compared to before but there’s definitely still a big room for improvement in that aspect especially in WB (ok-ish at 25-30 people) and GvG scenarios (yet to test this out).

Sadly for some reason VGA errors have started getting more frequent. I think it has something to do with some skills or effects or a combination of them when triggered.

Other issues I’ve experienced are similar to what some has already mentioned in this thread.

yesterday’s quick fix had my summons double animation stutter when summoning. some players can see it. some don’t. i’ve asked other sorcerers too. 80%of the people i asked are experiencing it as well.

i also noticed players passing through walls where in reality their characters are somewhere else.

the initial patch optimization enables me to toggle my fully packed inventory very smoothly even on graphically heavy scenarios. i can slide it in and out without the slightest lag

yesterday’s hotfix however, got me back to square 1, where toggling inventory stutters even on moderately dense graphics

other players are experiencing some skills being stuck in an animation frame, but i don’t have any further details

Ok more testing yesterday: Klaipeda ch1 + challenge mode. Results:

  • still a lot of slowdowns, but now I can navigate in the town even in ch1 (especially near warp and dungeon), that’s a nice improvement
  • challenge mode is unplayable: the desynchs are gone, that’s a good point, but they have been replaced by 5-10 seconds of client completely freezing

Overall I get more server lag/freeze, but no more desynchs. No idea if it’s better or worse…

Most vga errors i’ve seen been casued by Spirit Shock skill

As for me, game runs much more smoothly now, did challenge almost w/o freezes and those were really short.

core2duo n 4gb ram here

Would be nice if they could read about garbage collection and get rid of memory leaks lol

am still waiting for the internet provider to come install stuff and get better inernet, but I can say it is better than before the patch…

at least for me…

I’ve been on hiatus for this game. Last time I was playing I have 144 fps on this game on my new gaming rig. Ryzen 5 1600, 16gb ram, gtx 1060 6GB OC’ed, monitor 144hz 1ms, 3.8Ghz OC’ed. Last time I logged with this set up usual stuttering was still there

I lost interest playing this game because it simply is poorly coded/made whatsoever. My new gaming rig can play any triple A games on ultra settings so I do not believe that a game like ToS should give me any less performance.

Edit: My net speed is also 80mbps using LAN cable. Will check the new optimization when I feel logging in to the game cheers

sounds like you had your v-sync off if ur playing on 144 fps ‘w’

Gevurah is causing general VGA errors.

so i tried playing CM last night

i was able to play a steady 60fps even with all my graphics options are set to ON
even add dead parts would only fall to 38 fps compared to back then, which pretty much freeze the screen

After the last few patches stuttering has decreased, and I’m actually recieving positive results from the performance improvements (less stuttering, better FPS in actual fields/combat).
I guess the initial patch was just faulty, broken, now you can even play with effects on and still have a playable game.
The good thing is that Demon Lords are now playable without heavy FPS drops/stutterings, even with about 20-30 players present, though I’d like it more if I could disable other players effects without my Gematria/Notarikon debuff becoming invisible to me <_<

This also leads to the second bummer of the patch: breaking my skills :frowning:
Having Double Chance, Gevurah and sometimes even Heal&Cure crash the client makes my Kabbalist even worse than before, I hope this can be resolved soon…

Please put at least 5 channels on all maps D: so annoyed of crashing when trying to go to town cause I only have 2 channels outside of klaipeda and when I warp klaipeda first 2 channels are full-ish :anger:

It’s happening! Almost 100 FPS at 1080p max graphics settings, aside from FXAA because I like sharp pixels. No stutter, just micro ones when walking on long distances where there are many players around. By micro i really mean micro, when it indeed happens, the average goes down to just 77 FPS.

Today’s GvG was horrible lag and crashing. Nothing has changed when the game actually involves the mmo part, i.e 40+ players fighting on screen.
