Cleric healing fields: Where to cast them perfectly?

Dear Community,

I’d like to know where my lovely support players normally cast their healing fields.
For me there are basically two options.

#1: Cast on the Player
pro: immediatly healing
con: during a boss fight with many effect, I sometimes have the feeling people just don’t see the healing blocks close to them.

#2: Cast “far” away from the player
pro: easier to locate
con: low life party member have to walk

In addition to the mass heal which I usually use for the tank since the DPS are jumping all over the place, I am just not sure what’s the “best” way of doing it.

Maybe it would be interesting to hear some DPS / tank players here too.

Kindly regards,
Kroneus

Go for option #2. Most times when your dps is low hp and runs away ( to god knows where), even away from you, youll have harder time healing. So its better to place it somewhere where they can easily walk to

This one, whoever have low HP will have to deal with his own choice, I don’t get this idea of trying to squeeze max DPS for survivability, i see lots of archers or wizards with base CON being wiped by Golem in missions because of that, i do some off healing on my Sadhruid (got Cleric C2) i lay the heal tiles mid range from bosses so people can see the tiles (unless is some area with bad layout where the tiles get hidden, like Cerberus room in dun 190).

I literally never bothered with that. I cast wherever my character currently is whenever I see someone low on health. If they want to survive, they better walk towards it (in case they’re far), if they don’t, sucks for them.

The solution is to just cast as quickly as possible, players will naturally go for the heals and run away from combat when they’re low on health.

If you want to play safe, cast one heal before combat, and another one during it in case of necessity.

On grind parties though, I tend to walk first to the next room and cast a heal carpet just before the room’s entrance, right in the middle of the way so nobody can “avoid it” unless they really want to. On grind parties I tend to heal people between combats and not in middle of them (but I tend to save one heal overheat for during combat in case of emergency). This keeps them always at full health before a combat and they don’t usually have to bother with the “run towards the heal while low on health” situation.

If you’re in a place where you can predict where your party members will go, just cast a heal on the way.

I always put one right next to them… Then one patch behind them for when they get knocked back if that’s a thing for the fight I’m in.

Depends on the situation.
If they’re all in the safety zone in Siauliai, for example, I know they probably won’t leave in time and be knocked back so I put the tiles behind them.

I mostly have two ways to do it:

  • put them not too close to the boss and not too far, but in a ranged distance, on each side of the boss so the walking DPS can get them.
  • put one set close to the boss, put the other one farther (I do this one when the party has several melee characters)

The thing I avoid doing is putting them on the same side of the room/boss because the DPS usually run around, the tank might as well too. They’d have to walk all the way back which increases their chance to die.

It also depends on the party. If a character is particularly squishy or under-leveled (in Missions) I’ll put a set far away because I know the squishy will most definitely run as far as possible.

Well - we have 2 overheat on heal so I always cast one on boss so melee/tank will autoatically heal when moving near boss. Second heals i cast outside for ranged classes.

I support myself with Healing Factor so I don’t use heal tiles personally.

Support should support so it also means keeping dps to make thei job efficiently. Good support shouldn’t stop DPS to go away to take heals.

I faced this problem many times. People were ignoring my tiles, and they were in the middle of the way. Sometimes people are dodging healing tiles for no reasons, they maybe like the challenge and prefer to run with 500 hp at lvl 200+ :weary:.

Sometimes it’s bad for tanks to pull the mob/boss in the direction of his squishy teammates just to get heals so putting them right where they’re standing would be beneficial. That’s just one situation though.

. #2 would also be best in certain scenarios, and it benefits ranged members as it’s easy and safe for them to grab heals. If the tank is doing well and doesn’t need much healing, then #2 is the better choice.

In boss situation, spam heals like crazy even when no one needs it. You’ll never know when someone eats all the tiles and then another in need… Some people think DPS is important to “maximize”, but i’d rather focus on comrades’ safety.

Also, if you have c2 priest rank, when people scatter/spread out (they do it often) , cast revive on those that need it the most [weakest/squishiest]… (esp ones with lv 10+ diff on missions)

I do missions and dungeons/rushes mainly, so this strategy works quite well.

But if everyone’s too stronk, then change the tiles to be offensively used with blessing…

I hate heal blocks near bosses, it`s a call for death sometimes. When i’m playing with my cleric, i try to put the blocks out of boss range skills, but if someone take a pick damage, I always have a heal scroll for emergencies (made by me :D) and can use directly in heals needy.

I thought heal scrolls had been removed for quite sometime?

I didn`t know, i don’t have more a pardoner (I has in beta), i didn’t know there is no more possible to make heal scrolls, sorry everyone  @butter

Its not possible anymore

Where P is the player and B is the boss and H are heal tiles:

H H H H
H H H P B
H H H H
H H H H
H

#2 is completely unacceptable.

You should never make DPS move. You have literally nothing better to do as a healer than heal.

Don’t bother putting too much thought into it, if you drop it, they will come. Ive even had archers just strafing back and forth in the heal tiles eating them up as soon as they even get scratched. Location is not as important as timing.

If a fight is hectic (none really come to mind) , just fire and forget. If your group is dumb, drop 1 and save 1 for yourself. They call this an MMO, but it isn’t. Its more akin to Diablo in that each person is ultimately responsible for keeping themselves alive. Besides, who are you trying so hard to save? Those stingy fuggers who would rather sit at 50 hp than drink a potion? Or would sit down for 10 minutes and afk rather than put up a single fire when they are the only one that needs healing,…and they aren’t even the tank?

Ultimately, just worry about yourself. Sounds selfish, I know, but this community isnt such an amazing entity that you need to agonize over how to best heal. Because if the choice was between them and you, they would gladly throw you under the bus if it meant they didn’t lose their cube. I’m not saying you should go out of your way to be an asshat, just don’t let yourself become a victim. Oh, and keep your hp higher than your group’s linker. Always.

As a Swordman, i prefer you put 1 overheat very near the tank and the other far away, as a tank i don’t want to move too much because it might mess up damage skills of others

If these little unappreciative ■■■■■ still avoid your tiles or just keep blaming you for everything, cast mackangdal and watch haters gonna hate

Depends on the situation.

Situation #1 - Leveling/Grinding
If you have a tank/taunt, cast 1 overheat near him while he is on “block” stance (pressed C) and 1 near DPS. BUT! But if you see that the tank still have more than 80% of his HP, dont put it yet. Put it when there are 1 or more player who have 60% hp or less. If you put 1 Overheat, cast another so while you wait, cooldown is ongoing so you can have heal in another 20s.

Situation #2 - Siau Mission
Look at the position of the boss, put 2 overheat of heal tiles on 1 place only. Not too far and not too near the boss. If you are too kind and your party member sucks, remind them where the heal tiles are. Example, “Heal at right/north side”. When the boss runs/move, move the place of where you put the heal tiles. Party members will go there automatically when they have less than 90% hp coz non-healer char are too afraid to die when they received 1 damage. Yes! They hog the heal tiles while only receiving 2 digit damage. Always prioritize your heal on yourself. A dead healer is a dead party.

Situation #3 - World Boss/ Field Boss hunting.
If you are full support, put heal tiles near your DPS. If possible, put safety zone near/on him, put 2 overheat on his place, go away on safety zone/leave him alone on safety zone so block count will not deplete fast. Always turn on the “Remove Heal damage” attribute so only character can only receive your heals, not damage the monster.

Situation #4 - Dungeon runs
If rush, same as situation #2. If full, same as situation #1.

Situation #5 - ET
Depending on floor level, put heal tiles when they finish cooldown. If you have a chrono on your party, when he/she cast Pass, put another 2 overheat of heal. And, DON’T DIE! A dead healer is a dead party/failed ET.

I beg to differ. It depends on party composition, party member’s playstyle and situation, location of heals is as important as timing. Not easy to be a healer sometimes when need to look after players with different playstyles.

If play with wizards who like the “great divide” (icewall level 15 right smack in the middle of the boss dividing the party) for some reason or another. Place heals on the 2 ends quickly before he/she does that.

Play with YOLO players who don’t bother to move out of boss’s kb aoe range? Place heal tiles behind them.

Play with a tank? Drop heals directly on the tank slightly more forwards so that he can move forward picking off the range mobs while getting healed.

Play with plenty of melee range players? surround the mobs with heal tiles.

Play with range players? Know their range and place heals where it is reachable to them while allowing them to dps at that range.

Planting down on a location in a defensive quest/mission/goal/ET? Designate a heal area and load heals in that area. So players can move in to get healed and go back into the fray without worrying on eating up heal tiles whenever they just take 1 damage.
