My friends and I have tested a variety of classes in this beta cycle. Now obviously one should not hold themselves to the “standard” set by swordsmen, but I would like to specifically address my concerns while testing cleric.
First, let it be known it was a complete joy playing cleric. My primary concern, and something I don’t think could/should be ignored is scaling. Some great efforts have already been made in this regard. For cleric specifically I simply wish that heal scaled off of spirit as well, much like high heal, but possibly at a reduced ratio.
My largest concern is for my favorite cleric class, priest. Currently it feels like only the mandatory step stool to monk, for most. I take great pride in my offensive blessings and just fear that at level 200 or 600 they would become all but irrelevant. Again, simple fix - scale with spirit. Also, reagents serve no purpose other than taxing a class for it’s particular play style. There is no player interaction in buying reagents, is simply a chore the vast majority of classes don’t have to deal with.
I am well aware several classes are not implemented or well refined, but I would greatly appreciate more options in the early class ranks. It is rather disappointing that at rank 2 you only have 2.5 options (cleric 2). A major charm to TOS is the ability to make a unique character, but we are no limited early on. Would it be such a problem to push paladin or druid to circle 2?
Final note, archers are crap - all my friends rolled out of it and I agree with their sentiment. I understand playing at range is “safe”, but you can’t have swordsman have more damage, health and additional perks (sprinting)…
In short, give my priest buffs scaling off of spirit, give people options other than priest so my buffs will have greater meanie and Nerf swordsman. Thank you!
