Class and Rank Reset

Hi all, new player here! Having alot of fun playing with my friend but I think I made a mistake and need advice.

I had built toward Dragoon. Was loving it, spears, damage, jumping. But, we decided for our guild we would need a Templar and as such I switched to a tank build using the Steam Reset DLC.

I’ve now found I can hardly deal damage to level on my own and it turns out the Steam reset can only be purchased once? Please confirm?

At this point am I doomed to leeching? It seems like I do less damage considerably and am suddenly taking damamge from monster I could easily defeat before.

I built 1 Swordsman, 2 Paltesta, 3 Rodelero - heading for Templar. I am familiar with Ragnarok and certain classes being VERY difficult to level without a party.

Is there a way to get another reset? I have used the Steam DLC and the event rank reset. My own fault for being inaccurate. I am not against the build but how viable am I at sub 200 levels for grouping and how much pain am I in for? My friend is level 200+ and I would like to keep playing but am not sure if I can save my character or if I must start over to be able to level well. My real life requires a lot of my time and as such a full restart would take me a lot of time to recover without all of the resent event items.

Link to build

Any suggestions?

I don’t see why you would have to leech.
With the recent buffs to shield users you should have no real problems leveling via quests. If you deal hardly any damage, what stats do you have? Do you have appropiate weapons, shields and armor for your level? Can any of your friends borrow you some +attack headgears? Are you sure you’re fighting in areas that are appropiate for your level?

Since you said that you loved your spear build so much : Personally, i’d never give up a character that i love playing, i’d much rather make a new character if a Templar is really needed in my group.

I linked the build, focus mainly on Con/Dex im guessing this was full defense and why my damage is so low. May be able to re-spec. Not sure on good tank stats.

Perhaps I should have stayed as it was but wanted to explore a different class. Just looking to see what my options are to make what I am using viable. Can provide better detail later.

Do you buy buffs from pardoner in town? Sacrament and blessing last 70 and 40 minutes (respectively) and are really powerful, quite cheap too, usually around 600-800 silver. With those buff, you should be able to easily kill pretty much anything all the way to level 300-ish solo, regardless of your stat build or weapons you use.

Just buy a level 170 sword and shield from market if you haven’t already. A cheap one will be alright.

I agree, Bless and Sacrament are extremely strong for leveling. It’s definitely worth it buying these buffs from buff shops.

I am using Event sword/shield and blessings. Perhaps the damage just scales down a lot. As i mentioned I am 2:1 Con/Dex it seems to be an endgame stat build and for leveling I probably wanted some strength in there.

I am new to this and builds are VERY unforgiving in that a mistake like this now makes the character considerably more difficult. Are there are more up to date guides for classes?

well, for Rank Resets, you can obtain one through gameplay via the Adventure Journal at lvl 13 iirc, but to be honest i dont how how difficult is to get to that level

sometimes (although not frecuently) theres Rank Reset events, right now theres one going on but ONLY for wizard classes and Shinobi for swordsman, i assume you’re not Rank 7 yet since you wrote heading for Templar, so one thing you could do is to go for Shinobi class, its a Rank 7 hidden class, the quest for it is tedious but;
1- the class its amazing now
2- you would have access to the Rank Reset event going on right now, if you are Shinobi you get x2 Rank Reset (14 days) x2 Stat Reset Potion (14 days) and x2 Skill Reset Potion (14 days)

i do believe the Reset DLC its a one-time-only thing, so your only options would be either getting one from the Adventure Journal or from the event (or wait for another event)

that being said, however, leveling a tank character is indeed slower but not necessarily more difficult, dungeons and mercenary missions are always good options to level and you can also make another character if you’re not feeling the one you have now, good luck!

To be honest I really don’t think stats matter that much at your level. I level a full INT cleric class using auto attacks without any problem.

I think maybe it was because spear users (hoplite I assume?) have quite strong skills, so you are too used to being powerful. But then again, targe smash, shield bash, shooting star all hit fairly hard too.

Sometimes auto attacking is faster than using skills, and no SP consumption. Since you are 2:1 CON DEX, maybe wear a cafrisun set which adds quite a lot of damage to auto attacks.

As for that link to your build, it is a fairly generic tank build. This is my personal preference for skill points distribution: https://tos.neet.tv/skill-planner#1133aaagcc.253555.11213a4a65.11213f4a718a516591..1121374a7a81. I have no experience with templar, so you will have to figure that part yourself.

P.S. I heard matador is a class that provokes mobs similar to peltasta. Might be a good idea for a tank build, just a thought.

Stats and skills barely matter at lower level, to be honest.
I leveled a pure SPR AA Wizard, all she needed was to have a good Blessing and Sacrament. Maybe you buy second-tier low buffs at a Pardoner’s shop… ? I see a lot Priests 3 - Pardoner with no SPR in their gear selling Blessing. Since their SPR is low you only get like a +500 Blessing instead of a +1500 one.

As long as you stay within your level range, and with Blessing/Sacrament, you should be able to kill fairly well and fast.
What’s your level, and what level are the mobs you’re fighting ? Mobs from dungeons, or mobs in the wild ?
By “event” sword/shield, do you mean the ones given for new players ? Because those are really powerful. I don’t see how you’d have any trouble killing with those weapons and buffed ‘-’

And yes, the Steam DLC is a one time deal.
So you’d need to get the rank reset from the Adventure Journal, or wait to get some in some next events.
You can also get stat reset potions in the AJ and via events though, if you want to switch to full STR to level more easily.

I played around a bit more and have gotten the hang of it, thanks fo all the help though.

I am curious though. ToS support responded to my ticket and instructed me to refund the reset I purchased via steam. Since I have redeemed it usually this is something that would get you banned from a game but they clearly state to refund it. Not sure what to do here?

I think it’s more of an automatic answer, maybe they also misunderstood what you were trying to say ?
Not only it’s not allowed, but you cannot even refund it if you have claimed and used the item.
