[Class] All-in-1 Comprehensive Chaplain Guide - Job Advancement, Skill Build, FAQs, Equipment & Overall Thoughts ~!

hey there.
Just gave your post another read. I’m curious about toy hammer vs valia.
I bought the Valia recipe and farmed all the mats to craft it. But I’m sitting on enough money atm to buy toy hammer.
I’m mostly curious on the explosion from toy hammer. You said its roughly 400% patk.
Questions:

  1. is it AoE and if so how many targets, is it affected by AoE atk ratio?
  2. Is the explosion dmg affected by additional atk from blessing and elemental atk from arde/headgears/etc???

According to my calcs Valia will do
96(patk diff at both +5) + 108(sacrament w/ 50% enhancex2hits)+ 500holy dmg(50x10hits) =704
Cant remember how much patk i have even roughly but lets say 300patk. Thats a difference of 500dmg over 2atks(10hits)
But if your atking dark property, that holy dmg is doubled making it about even at 300patk, and if your atking devil type thats another 740 dmg in favour in Valia (Pretty sure race type dmg works same way as element in the fact its added to every hit).
Would love if you could do some more testing to work out the dmg mechanics of the explosion.

I’m going Druid 2 also I think on my SPR Build chaplain. My Magnus Exorcimus + Carnivory and Telepath will burn enemies alive. Oh yeah, and keep my whole team safe with Sterea trofh + Stone Skin + Safetyzone + Capella + Sterea trofh.

OH yes, I upped Magnus Exorcimus to lvl 5. LoL. It just has the coolest effect, and I wanted the bonfire to look cool for 15 seconds.

EDIT: And as people are waiting for their dungeon runs, or Mission runs. A ray of light just appears as if someone had died while pressing spacebar

Question. Aspergillum is a self buff right? Do you need to cast both Sacrament and Last Rites?

Nice guide, Thanks!!!

One question, full INT or full SPR for a DPS meta???

No you can cast it without the other two.

A couple of questions:

  1. Did you raise your plate mastery for this build?
  2. What kind of gems do you use? Blue?
  3. What do you think of attributes like +%stun for blunts or +Weight? Are those useful?
  1. Not yet, eventually most supports will go roxona plate armor set and then go for plate mastery for more survivability

  2. yes i’ve been upgrading blue.

  3. yes useful for the % stun though it is very low % chance when maxed and the +weight is useful since we don’t add str thus don’t have a high weight carrying limit. the quest free sp potions will encumber u very easily so make sure you remember to store them in the storage while carrying 30-50 at one time.

  1. it is not AOE. It works on how many attacks you have done on that mob, with 10 attacks for 1 explosion. So similarly to how i explained that 2 autoattacks (with 5 damage numbers) will trigger 1 explosion, the explosion will trigger individually for the monsters that have reached 10th attack counters.

  2. yes the explosion dmg is affected by blessing and elemental attack from arde and head gears.

A very good guide.

Nice guide!! A quick question here, im currently is R7 with doctor plague build, since usual map hardly use incineration, do you recomment to use toy hammer as a end game weapon all the way to lvl 280? Cuz my usual attack form will be auto attack + explosion is benefit more and rarely use any magic attack skill (eg cure, magnus and incineration) on normal mobs

Aspersions dmg I tho is actually on active cast dmg
. The buff given only def?

I have been lead to believe that Dex chaplains suck endgame and basically have no role. Can the OP (or other Chappy pros) confirm this? Does the OP’s Chappy actually have a job come PvP?

DEX really has no place in a Chaplain build. Only reason to go heavy DEX as a cleric is if you plan to Monk it up.

The only reason I can think of doing DEX Chap would be if you plan to try to walk up and auto-attack people in PVP, which is counter-intuitive to your role of support.

If the battle results in a one vs one, you have pretty much won because you are a healing class anyways.

I’ve been sticking largely with int on my priest (actually, exclusively with int thus far, planning to add con later). However, at 25, I am having major issues killing mobs. I can deal with single or double pulls once every 20-something seconds by using cure (which is an exceedingly awkward ability), and wipe out individual ones by whacking them with blessing (though that gets expensive)… but, I have to say, as an MMORPG old-timer, I don’t know if I am going to be able to stand this all the way through a C3 priest. Am I doing something wrong?

try to buy the best weapon for your level (15, 40, 75, 120, etc) a sword and a blunt if you have the money, to switch between different mobs
also, when you get priest2 sacrament which has 3 min cd at lvl5 things get easier

Go into town and ALWAYS buy the Sacrament and Blessing buff from Pardoners.

They cost like 1100 or less if you are lucky depends on your server aswell, but you will have made that silver back in no time with those buffs.
Also helps if you have the 4 piece Cafrisun set you can buy it in the Market or farm it, buying saves you alot of time though.

With the buffs alone not even counting Cafrisun you will be lvling up and killing smoothly!

I have 30 points in STR (problems with builds :worried:), can I do this chaplain build and use these STR points in a rank 6 or 7 class like paladin (if don’t have a stat reset until then), or is more better restart the game?

Thoughts?

2:2:1 CON:INT:SPR

Oracle c7 instead of PD, mainly for Counter spell

just trying to think what to take for C7, support-based chappy.

You know the buffs are buggy and can be overridden by nearby players, and wear off after 180 hits, right? I’d hardly call that worth it.

Is there any concensus with regards to whether or not Chaplains should max blessing? I’m inclined to go that route, and some pros seem to agree, while others view it as heresy.

I am talking about the lvling phase and even in dungeons I personally always pick them up how can 2 buffs setting you back 2400 silver not be worth your silver when you 1 2 shot mobs maybe 3 shot if you do not have cafrisun?

180 hits is waaay more than you might imagine with auto attacking and I assure you it will at the very least net you back your silver while speeding up your killing rate ( in my case I always end up with roughly 10k more than I started with )

On my own Chaplain I have no maxed blessing I took lvl 3 only, that being said its up to each individual to decide if they want to spend that much more points for around 47 more damage on each hit.
The extra damage does certainly have its merits as in party play that 47 on each hit goes x5 + each time a skill will hit ( multi hit skills ) so yes it might certainly be worth it.
