Character Customization

More hair choices please/ <3

Should atleast add hair color and skin tone. Others like eyes, body build and etc are hard to notice

Yeah, I got it. Maybe you had a bug or something.
And this black tbh is a bit disappointing. Thought it would be more darker, like night black.

That doesn’t even look like black… unless my eyes are deceiving me, that looks like dark brown.

Yeah i think its weird that there isnt even simple pallete swaps.

Its 2015,customization is a thing, and this game should have a lot more.

I think it would be neat if you could go to a dyer NPC and they can dye your class costume for a price, for example if you’ve ever played or at least seen halos customization, you can change two colours on your armour, the base colour and the detail colour, perhaps they could do something like that?

They’ve already stated they’re going to work on adding skin tone customization (with priority over costume color change). Additionally, there are several custom hair colors already in the game files, of which are unlocked via achievements. Changing one’s hairstyle currently costs 100 nxp / icoins (not implemented, but in the files).

I really want skin tone customization. I am brown skinned and having my character white in games doesn’t feel right to me.

Im pretty sure they will add a lot of hair color’s later. It’s just not necessery for now.

Most important to me is Skin Color.

More seriously, I think players are gonna come to expect better customization with other certain games on the Market. Let’s be blunt here and say Maple Story 2, BDO, Blade and Soul, the market is becoming crowded with amazing customization. The bar is no longer “making players able to differentiate themselves,” it’s now “making players able to do literally anything.”

ToS is a beautiful game and I think it’s very understandable if “literally anything” is outside of the possibilities. But I think that one of the main things we should be looking at that needs to grow content wise is the customization.

Even though hairstyle colors can be found throughout the game, a couple of natural hair colors would be fair. Red, dark brown, blonde. Then other colors like blue, green, and white could be found anywhere in game.

Eye colors would be ideal to, a couple again like brown, blue, and green, with more to collect in the world.

A couple of facial features might help to, if it’s possible to give bears, scarves, scars, things of that nature.

Here’s the difficult one I don’t think is possible that I would love: A several layers hair system which lets you change bangs, scalp, and back. So I get to choose between having a couple bangs like something going across my forehead, or something tied back, then a couple of scalps like tied, curly, or dreaded, and a couple of options for hair going back like long, ponytail, or nothing.

Whatever can be added, I think there needs to be enough customization that finding a twin is a rare and strange situation, rather than a common one.

Skin tone really should be added, but not as an unlock unless it’s like… purple or something crazy. I can understand unlocking the hair styles.

It’s probably going to sound bad, but: it’s because they’re Korean; a vast majority of which have a natural, creamy/vanilla skin-tone. All they do is range in color from palest to tannest. No reason to make more skin tones if you only need to represent one group of people.

With that said, however: I do agree, and I’d personally like to see more skin tones.

Yeh I thought about that too, but then remembered every other korean mmorpg that lets you do dark skin =\

Skin tone options are an absolute must. Running around as a default pale Voodoo Priest = not very immersive

Agreed with most of the above.

At character creation, you should be able to choose natural hair colors: Blonde, Brown, Dark Brown, Black and Natural Red would be good. You should also get some natural skin tone options and Brown, Blue or Green eyes.

Everything else could be unlockable, including the ability to palette swap our costumes, which would still give us a massive amount of customization options that we would have to go out and find.

Q) Please give us options to change characters’ eye colors or hair colors.

A) We already have a feature to change eye colors or hair colors of characters in the game. But instead of making them possible when selecting a character, we want players to obtain them in the game.

We hope for your understanding for this since we believe that players will be more affectionate to their characters when they become unique and distinct from other players’ characters after a long period of playtime instead of just allowing diverse customization options from the beginning.

I disagree with this design philosophy when customization is as limited as it is for this game in the beginning. One of my favorite characters in any MMO I have ever played was a character I created in City of Heroes, which had “diverse customization options from the beginning”. I’m fine with many things being unlockable, but in 2015 we should really have more options at character creation.

As someone else said, right now you look like a clone when you’re starting out, which makes it hard to be attached to the character at all.

I dont believe for a second that engine limitations are the reason they cant do pallette swaps. And if that is true, then what kind of faith can i possibly put into this game.

I understand that the developers did not want the significant customization things in this game to come “easy” or “cheap” and to encourage building a better bond with your character (by spending more hours playing) but I disagree with that insight. The moment I enter character customization I am already spending 2 hours or more just thinking of his class, name, appearances, etc. When there is a heavy limit to what you can customize in the start (ex. no colorful hair, skin, eyes) it really binds the players creativity and actually hurts us more that we can’t achieve our awesome looking 1st character. For those who wish to roleplay, this feature isn’t adequate. I really hope they can take this into consideration when open beta comes.

(I’ve played iRO and that game is still very dear to me as I remember creating my first blue haired swordie)

Agreed.

I’ve said it too many times now and I’ll say it again: All options needn’t be necessary, but enough that we can differentiate ourselves from the get go atleast is. And that only takes giving us a few of those hair colors at the start.

This is necessary for immersion, and very potentially even more for role playing.

I hope something is added, 3 to 5 hair colors per hair style at the start would be ideal to me.

Yeah, they really should rename this dark brown and add a true black.

Yes. There should be a few basic options at the start - and then perhaps unlock more color options for hair dye in game and through a cash shop.
