Chaplain's best weapon pre-R8?

As the title says,

What is the most effective weapon currently for Chaplain builds before “Practonium weaponry”?
Does it differ through later ranks for both R7 and “Practonium weapons”?(PD/Inqui/Miko)

Catacombs Club seemed to be the one of the best(if not the best) weapon for Chaplain and most of the Cleric ranks pre-ET in R7.
Does this still hold true after the eventual patches in R8 (particularly with the gem changes) ?

I’m building a low SPR, INT-based C2>Priest3>Chap leaning towards PD2. Any inputs though for alternatives will still be appreciated.

Oh, of course. That’s actually a no-brainer which is my bad for neglecting :sweat_smile:

Before “Practonium” weapons though, what would be the best?

i’d just stick to catacombs club until you get the 315 mace.
or 5 hammer with red gems if you want.

What about Valia? Has one more socket against Cata and adds another line of damage. I’ve also seen quite a number of Chaps still using it. It also came to mind while reading old Chaplain-related topics…

its a nice weapon, 3 slots, not better than 5-hammer or cata club though.

I prefer 5-hammer over cata club. The extra AoE atk is too good to pass on, even being a chaplain with considerably small damage area from auto-atks.

It’s also much cheaper.

Hands down 5 hammer with red gems. The AoE ratio is by far more beneficial than anything else with chaplain, and the 5 slots lets you pull a great deal of enhancement in patk and matk simulataneously. The dmg normalizes to a level that (most likely) exceeds anything else pre-transcendence / practonium. Also, the price point is low.

Are level 6 red gems a must or level 5s would suffice? I’m kinda in a pinch at my budget so just wanna know if the latter seems plausible.

I would go budget lvl 5.

I really don’t see any reason to go with a 5hammer if u start spending so much on gems.

If you really want a smooth experience with your priest before practorium, this is the set up Im using on my fresh rolled priest 3 (full spirit)

5Hammer +5 (5 red gem lvl 5)
cafrisun set +10 ( 2xyellow gems lvl 5 top and bottom, blue lvl 5 shoes)
didel tower shield (2x lvl 5 red gems)
2x gladiator bracelet
max petamion
3x budget headslot with patk or elemental damage ( you should look for 3 of those when they are undercut to easily level up your alts no matter what your main is, imo)

Before that the only switch I did were dagger at 75 and ledas shield at 120, I used abo set (2x rings) till gladiator and, lastly, a random necklace +10 till max peta

If you dont have any main char with gladiators, replace them with abo set rings or the +3 rings from main quest. If you dont have max peta stick with a +10 necklace (or consider abo ring+necklace and one +3 ring from main quest, if you miss both max peta and gladi)

Hands down this is the best exping gear out of there, imo at least :wink: and trust me, auto attack priests are a blast to play in pve, with the right items and aspe + bless the damage output is pretty much WTF is that a level 40 fence3? :slight_smile:

note on valia: It’s the best hammer pre practorium for dex cleric thx to the 3x sockets (monk included) if you can find the aoe somewhere else (vubble+gladi) not a budget option for your monk, but very effective :3

Yeah, I find “AAing” with priests fun and makes leveling a breeze.

I just remembered that I had a few abrasives from last event so I’ll prolly check and gauge if I can still kick in one or a couple more level 6 though.
That extra 60 ATK per gem still looks like quite a difference. If my stuff ain’t enough then Level 5 still. :sweat_smile:

Np, in fact I’m levelling right now

C2 Priest 3 Oracle 3 (spirit)
C2 Priest 1 Diev 1 Monk 1 Druid 2 inqui 1

At the same time, so it’s nice to share some exping gear ideas :slight_smile:

as I said, I do find 5hammer better on priest and valia better on monk (both with gladi, plus vubble gloves+shadow set on monk over cafrisun set) but there are still nice opinions to find on the internet :slight_smile:

I just don’t find catacomb that usefull in PvE contest aside from the full support role at 330 in 5man runs (extra hp). Ignition is better on INT user, dex user can pick toy hammer/valia/the mace with crit ratio and crit atk (malas mace?) and, finally, priest 5hammer for solo :wink: still surprised that catacomb prices are kinda high, honestly, but I guess it’s a solid pick for PvP pre practorium so looks like the demand is sticking no matter what.

“AAing” is a lifestyle :slight_smile: better then aggroing half the map with retreat shot on my full str aka “no evasion” rogue1-SR3 while questing…God, bringing that archer at 330 in R8 contest while soloing was a pain xD who sad archers are nice soloer? :stuck_out_tongue:
