I am currently at 270 with my SPR C2-P3-Chap-Miko and need some advice on how to properly gear. Currently I’m using the Cata mace that came with rookie event, Arde dagger and Cafrisun set.
What gear should I be investing in? I haven’t decided on weather I am going to go full support with Tao, or more hybrid DPS with Zea2. Is their a gear path that won’t lock me into either of them, or are one of these builds vastly superior to the other?
If you are able to spare a practonium, get a Vienarazis Mace. It is one of the best catch all weapon for clerics and can last you until you reach 350.
If not, just stick to any 270/315 HG weapon you can find until you have decided your build path. For armor wise, same just stick to any HG equipment until build is decided. Although the 2 builds vary in types of gear, in the end most of the players will go for Primus Raffye Mace or Masinios Mace for the 2 builds (since we don’t really have much choice in the gear we have)
For Taoist support route, you can choose an Inquisitor1+Taoist1 route and still able to solo/support without any problems. Taoist C2 is more suitable for builds having Krivis in their circles.
Zealot C2 is more of a pure DPS circle with little to offer in support wise. However it synergises well with your SPR stat choice as Blind Faith’s damage is dependent on how big your SP pool is.
How can you not have decided which route you want to go if you already spent skillpoints/status points?
I’ve made a similar build, C>Priest3>Chaplain, currently stuck at miko quest, planning to go PD1>Zealot2 DEX/STR/CON. Best is to just stick to maces unless you’re positive that you won’t go Zealot, since your autoattacks can stun enemies (Cleric attribute) and will be your main source of damage until you reach Zealot.
The type of mace doesn’t matter, just look that it’s at least +6 if you can afford it, as it will give you extra attack&matk.
Cheap maces are all around, maybe you should try to get one on the market with several elemental attack properties as they add damage to all your attack lines and might be superior to premade maces like Valia/Vienarazis Mace that only have the statbonus to add to their reputation of being useful.
It’s also bad to invest so early into a weapon unless you have extra practoniums to spare, as you might want to get your hands onto the Masinios Mace later on [unless this character is just a subcharacter you rarely play; please don’t invest heavily into it then, you will only regret it later on when equipment becomes cheaper and you can buy 4 or 5 times the equip for the same price] and/or other equipments which cost Practoniums to craft [e.g. the new 350 unique leather/plate/cloth set].
Besides a weapon, I advise you to look for cheap plate equipment with DEX boni, so you have an attack speed boost.
While SPR is also an option, it’s currently overpriced because all Enchanters/Thaumaturges/Sorcerers/Necromancers are buying it off the market, making it skyrocket [let’s not forget the pardoner shops].
Plate is a good choice for you since you’ll be going into melee a lot, and plate also doesn’t have a malus against missile type attacks (except cannon), so ranged attacks won’t be dealing extra damage to you.
Thanks very much. Both of these answers helped a lot. I don’t want to invest a ton of silver or any high end mats at this point, but I needed something to grow into. I was taking far too much damage in 270 dungeons since I hadn’t swapped any of my gear out since <100.
