Changing Jobs without remaking whole new character?

I’m not sure if this question has already been officially answered before but I’ll give it a shot. Basically with the huge diverse set of classes, is it possible for me to do a job change while maintaining its levels? Like let’s say I’m currently playing Falconer and I wanted to play a mage for a bit but eventually I’ll want to switch back to Falconer with same job level, would that be possible?

On a similar note, let’s say I’m playing Elementalist and I want to try Thaumaturge, would there be a method to do a similar switch over for something like that while maintaining my Elementalist job levels?

Of course. You just need to make a new character. But if you just mean quick class swaps, then no.

Dude that would kill the game in my opinion and I’m sure it’s not in the game. The purpose of people making games like these is to have players like us to keep on playing it.Now lets say if we do it your way it would make the game very boring fast and people would lose interested. The entire barracks would be useless if you can change to any class regardless if you keep your current level.

Make a new character like a normal player and don’t be lazy please.

There shouldn’t be, to my knowledge.
I like the idea that each character has a fixed role, it gives them more identity.

if you mean class reset? then nope nope nope… it will make people not responsible with the char they make

No official announcement about that, since cash shop contents aren’t even confirmed.

I wouldn’t be against a system somewhat similar to Rift where within a single class you can have multiple variant builds.

I don’t feel too strongly either way, and any notion of “reset” appears to be a bit of a taboo topic 'round these parts.

I imagine part of the reason is that some classes are craft-centered and it’s essentially a “sacrifice” of sorts.

It’s not possible in the game as of now – I enjoy having alts so I dislike that concept in general but that’s my own personal bias.

as for the elementalist / thau thing… you can get thau and still have you ele skills but you only get a set amount of class ranks to choose… see --> http://www.tosbase.com/tools/skill-simulator/

i think if this idea was implemented it would be stupid, and will just remove diversity in classes since anyone can change class as they see fit, People also want Harder leveling grind so people can’t just power rush level a new character and get new class that easy,

So when i say i’m a DPS Monk, that’s just me,… since attaining that level and progress in the game is hard,

Ideally, there should be items (costly) that allow a player to recover vital building resources/steps.

For example a consumable that each use restores/brings back 1 attribute point (won’t affect innates or basic attributes).

Also an item that reverts back a class change (if still able), however all experience or other benefits are lost. This is more to prevent those last minute choices that players repent after a while.

This does not remove character/class building identity, but give the game more customization during the course of the journey, lets say at the begin you want more of an attribute, and later change to another, you can, but it becomes costly, repenting from a class change is self-explanatory.

The new class system will allow you to play both classes of a same rank.

But no cross branching. We need some integrity in this class system.

You would be playing the game just as long anyway since you would be switching your job. You would have to level up all over again. But they aren’t going to do that anyway. Barracks entire reason is to have multiple characters.

Exactly the Barrack system would be pointless -_-,furthermore people who want this idea to be in the game are just lazy players who want to avoid making another character and that can’t handle the grind in my opinion. And no you won’t be playing the game at it’s full potential if you can change to any job because the end game content is very limited at launch and the reason they even made so many classes is for us to try them out by starting at level 1.What you and others are asking is like a cheat code to change any job you like by keeping your level LMAO…cmon.Your overall gameplay would reduce by a lot compare to if you have to start over to play another class (Think big ok?).If you play this game for years you will be playing more if you had to make a new character rather than changing class on the spot.

More to do in the game + More gameplay = potentially more money for IMC
More gameplay - grind - Journey and questing - more to do in the game = potentially less money for IMC

The interesting part of Addiktion is that hes asking to change from Falconer in the archer tree to become a mage class, those are 2 different classes from different trees.

change classes anytime without make new character that sound boring because if you can change any job at anytime that mean you only need 1 character for the whole game and 1 character slot only and pvp any classes you want that way people will hate the game more and more

Exactly my point, what would be the point of making 4 separate class trees in the first place if you can now change to any job you like. It’s a ridiculous idea in my opinion and a huge insult to IMC when they made an effort to create us 4 class starter trees,

You simply don’t understand what he was saying at all. The only difference with the question/idea he was proposing is, if you’re on your warrior, and you wanted to play a magician for a bit, instead of logging off the warrior and onto a magician, you could simply change your class from warrior to magician. You would keep w/e levels/jobs you had on your warrior, and your magician would start at level 1, and when you were done playing with magician, you could switch back to warrior and you’d be back whatever level/etc you left off. The same system FFXI/DOMO/FFXIV uses.

In both cases, you’d have to level the class/jobs, in both cases people who like alts can still make them. The only difference is for the people who find it annoying to have to make new chars for playing different classes, they can play them all on 1 character. They’d still have to level all the classes they want to play individually just like everyone else.

Worst idea I heard in my opinion and I know this type on games that has that system and their aren’t doing good but anyways that’s beside the point.Don’t be lazy create a new character I mean it takes god 3 seconds to log off the warrior and go on your mage class -_- geeez…where is the dislike button when you need it…sigh

This will kill the game this is a big NO NO,

If jobs can be changed on a whim, then people won’t bother dedicating themselves to it. Whole bunches of people will just become whatever the flavour of the month is and expect their teammates to compensate for their own lack of knowledge.

It promotes bad play.
