The build you picked is very focused on PvP.
If you want a full PvM character, I would focus more towards Dragoon 3…
Dragoon 3 have very decent AoE damage with Dethrone + Dragon Fall (new jump skill). They don’t have too many skills, as in quantity, but they can still deal good damage with the few skills they have:
Dragoon 3 also has more flexibility choosing previous classes as they can be both 1h, 2h, mounted or unmounted. In that vid, Pelta 2 was chosen mostly for the utility of Swash Buckling, making mobbing enemies around you quite easy and fast. Lancers are limited to 2h spears and mounted classes only (as @mathiasdutranichele mentioned, this excludes shinobi).
Lancer 2 is a class very focused on killing bosses quickly. They have an absurd damage with Crush + Quintain, but those skills have somewhat narrow AoE and are often overkill on normal mobs. Lancer 2 has even fewer (in quantity) good skills for PvM, making them a class that requires you to wait on cooldowns a lot.
Lancer 2 is a more PvP oriented class, and against players, they have very interesting skills that make them unique at what they do (i.e. Penetrate through almost any shield user, Remove enemy skills placed on ground, Recover themselves from debuffs, …). None of those effects are very useful at PvM, however.
About the previous classes, Cataphract 3 damage is terribly awful. The only skill that can be considered “decent” is Rush, and even then, it’s nothing amazing and wastes a lot of SP. The best thing about Cataphract 3, however, is the ability to run fast with 100% Trot uptime. This makes farming much easier and faster, if, of course, you have other classes in your build to deal the dps Cataphract 3 lacks.
Swordman 3 is a good choice for that kind of build if you’re looking specifically into using 2h spears all the time. Personally, I would rather use 1h spear + shield, though, as shown in the video. The reason for that is because 2h spear offers too little extra damage for what a shield can give you. As I said before, having Swash Buckling in your build is the best utility for mobbing you can get on swordman tree.
As for stats: If you’re pvm build, full STR (at most 60 con, if you really want it).
You didn’t quite specify if you want PvM or PvP in your post, but I’m assuming you’re talking about a full PvM character since you noted you want to solo bosses and deal good AoE dmg.
