Cataphract Question & Answer

Hi I would like to verify the weapon capabilities of a Cataphract.

Is it possible for a Cataphract to wield a Single Hand Sword Weapon and Shield while using the Peltasta Skills and then switch over to a lance/spear to use its Cataphract skills? Or is the Cataphract skills going to work on the sword? Does skills require a specific weapon to activate?

Or is it possible for a Cataphract to use the hoplite skills(spear base) skills while it uses the lance type weapon?

A lot of questions needs to be clarified when it comes to this class wielding weapon.

PS: If there is an answer already for this question please leave the link below and I’ll gladly close the topic. ā€œSorry for my bad english XDā€ Also if there are people who needs some question answered please dont hesitate to post it here as long it is in reference with the Cataphract Class

Let’s see, for example Cataphract’s Impaler:

Req. Stance: TwoHandSpear, OneHandSpear, OneHandSpearShield. So this’ll mean you can only use this skill while using these combinations.

If we now look at Peltasta’s Rim Blow:

You can see that one of its Req. stances is, conviniently, OneHandSpearShield.

But as you can see, it’s not with sword, but Spear. So you can use Spear + shield for both Cataphract and Peltasta skills, but only Peltasta with Sword + shield.

Hope it helps

Oh it definitely helped a lot! Cause you know its CBT3 tomorrow so Im going to test the Peltasta+Cataphract and Swordsman3x>Cataphract build.

I was wondering what would be with the skill of Cataphract(Rush) will it work with just single spear? it looks on the video it needs 2 hand spear.

Never mind I just saw the skill description! ā€œhttp://www.tosbase.com/tools/skill-simulator/ā€ thanks a lot mate this sites definitely is helping me out!

In the teaser for CBT 3, one of the point of interest was ā€˜Restriction on the use of skill depending on the type of items you use have been removed as much as possible’.

Basically some of the info we have now will be outdated, so keep your eyes out :3

Yeall thats one thing I’ll look into tomorrow. Also a question about the Swordsman Rank. Does anyone knows if Gung Ho & Concentrate Buffs stack?

I just tested the skill this afternoon and yes it do Stack. What doesnt stack is the Guardian Buff from a Peltasta and Gung Ho it overlaps the other

I have confirmed some skill of cataphract can be used while not in mount like ground wave. Im not yet sure with the other skills like doom spike and Impale.

Can you test if it’s possible to use it with 1H spears + shield? And if you went Hoplite, if Hoplite skills can be used while mounted.

The skills can be used in single hand spear as the skill description stated

Yehey. Thanks thanks.

@Etherstar
Is there any way to reset skills and stat?

So far no stat reset/skill and IMO I wouldn’t think them implementing that sooner or later

This has probably already been answered but can a Cataphract class use swordman buffs with a spear such as Gung ho/concentrate?

From the video you can see he’s on gungho buff. From toswiki stated both skill are usable on mount.

I’m still deciding concentrate vs gungho as I really want pain barrier in my build tho

whats your final class if may I ask so I can give my suggestion

Swordsman C3 Cataphract C3

you can get all the buffs from swordsman then focus on active skills on Cataphract. Of course just dont forget to max trot.

Thanks man, I’m playing iCBT now. Seems like concentration only add extra damage while gungjo add extra physical attack. In the long run I believe gungho will out damaged significantly. And playing without any attacking swordsman skill is possible but then with just auto attack to swordsman c3 is like living zombie

well you really dont have a choice… Then again IMO I will have Gung Ho and Concentration max. Besides Concentration last only 4 Hits after that you will have to wait for its cool down again. On the other hand Gung Ho is at least 1 min, downside is it will reduce your def significantly if its max out >__<… Doesnt matter to you if you’re an evasive type cataphract or probably a high vit cataprhact
