Can we have a official statement instead of random grey-area stuff on addon?

"Please remember that addons which alter any elements of the gameplay are not allowed "
that’s like saying you can use everything else, but since you are now banning ppl over this, you should make an official statement of which addon can be used, you have the list of all the addon anyway.

P.S: keep you BS or your opinion for yourself, it doesn’t matter, since we are talking about banning ppl here, we HAVE to get an official statement not random crap about “maybe”,“if it’s not too invasive” (like for better quest and exp viewer) and stuff.

oh and i don’t know how to tag my BFF from the staff.

Here’s the rub:

  • IMC has been very explicit about what kinds of addons they do and do not condone thus far.

  • You use any and all addons at your own risk. IMC is not obligated to whitelist any of them for you.

  • Every LUA addon hosted on GitHub is completely open source. Nothing is preventing you from looking at the scripts for yourself and making your own judgment on whether it crosses the line.

  • If you don’t know what you’re doing, don’t ■■■■ with it.

Not that goddamn hard.

Any third party addon has all this while in grey area for most games. I doubt IMC will gives any official statement for specific approved addon. Same apply for any other games.

However, most game company will close one eye to a non-intrusive addon which improve QoL of gameplay without creating unfair advantage to addon user.

Hence, general rules of thumb for using 3rd party addon is:

"Use at your own risk"

it is resource demanding to go through every single add-on available
i do find IMC statement clear enough
any doubt, dont use it, use it at your own risk, simple as that
IMC could simple say no add on allow to stop this drama, and i bet most of use dont want to come to that

If you look at what an add-on does and think to yourself, “Hmmm, that seems a little sketchy” then it’s probably bannable. Honestly if you have a shred of discretion you should be at no risk.
