What does it do? from what i have understood, this skill increases the amount of slots on your weapon.
and what use the slots have?
Slots allow you to put gems in your gear.
Gems give + and - effects depending on the gem, and gear they are put on.

You can put gems inside the slots to give the weapon something beneficial but at the same time something detrimental. That’s what the Gem Roasting skill is for. To lessen/remove the negatives of the gem.

ummm that was a easily misunderstood text, it kinda means that example a weapon has a hidden +10 str stat on that weap and only by using item awakening, opening up a portal to another zone/small map and fighting the monster/ spirit/whatever u call it of the weapon, and winning it, only then the +10 str will be unlocked
EDIT: the slots refer to how many people can enter with you to the portal

i thought the slots for gems can be opened at npcs?

Lastly, the gem system didn’t seem that important during the beta. To keep you well-informed, all you have to do is talk to a Black Smith and ask him to create an empty gem slot. From there, you can apply the gem to the item you had just slotted.

yeah, that’s what i thought too. they said npcs can open slots, but it decreases the item’s potencial.
