Can somebody explain the hype/appeal behind TOS? Plus answer a few Q's

Hey all. I just had a few questions regarding this game in a serious matter as its similarly one, I have not played in the past with games alike like Ragnarok Online also. I just plain and simply wanted to know the games appeal/hype and it’s intended end game, along with having just a few other quick questions.

Firstly,

1-Is it solo friendly? Or must I party eventually?

2-Does it get difficult at all? Because from what I’ve watched on steams, it is just people melting mobs.

3-Is this game a true korean grindfest type?

4-What is the end goal? Does it have loot farming like a traditional arpg or what is the intended end game plan per se?

1 - It is. You can also speed up the process of lvling playing in a party, though.
2 - There are a couple difficulty spikes, but overall, it’s fairly easy.
3 - At the really really high levels, yes, it is (around 200).
4 - Not sure i can answer this one. :frowning:

1: It certainly isn’t very party friendly, but the exp benefit of a party working together to slaughter mobs, or the exp bonus from party members in dungeons makes it extremely worthwhile when you get high enough level.

2: The game has an inherent difficulty that goes up, mostly based on your build/class some have harder times early on some always have a difficult time. Sure I slaughter typical mobs, but field bosses/dungeons are a completely different story, even if you are the same level with a field boss it will most likely slaughter you and you will rub it’s stomach with a feather.

3: Define grind fest, because all mmos have an good amount of grind. The max level currently is 280 much more than the typical mmo. The FINAL max when everything is in is supposed to be around 600 so… grind? Yes. I mean a few hours a day and you will get a lot of levels anyways.

4: The game isn’t an ARPG if you think that sorry it’s a typical mmo like Ragnarok was. Sure the combat controls are really intuitive and puts you in control of the combat pretty well, but guild v guild wars will be a thing when people get high enough to make a guild that is… On top of the fact there are Raids, and yes you will want to farm for good gear, there is pvp and things like that.

To also note. There are a few really hardcore players that are in the 100’s and it’s only been out a few days. So there is that.

To answer your general question in the subject of the thread, the general appeal/hype was probably the rumored 80+ classes that TOS boasted about. The seemingly limitless possibilities when creating your unique character. Some builds will obviously be more viable in battle and still others excel in other areas. Hope this helps.

The graphics are very beautiful.

Pretty much during the early development of the game TOS was claimed to be the spiritual sucessor of Ragnarok Online, a statement people are still holding really tight, which is also one of the reasons the game is so much criticized.
Since the game is really different from Ragnarok, it doesnt meet the criteria raised up by the community of what a sucessor should be like.

I am going to explaim to you what is TOS with an analogy.
old cow= ragnarok new cow= the game milk=players money Farmer= IMC

One Day a farmer saw a really succesfull cow and thought that he needed a cow like that to give him milk, so he bought a daughter of that cow that was really beauty, shiny and appealing. But this new cow had a problem, it didnt produced any milk, so the farmer asked 2 friends what he should do. The first one said that if he had HOPE on his cow he could make her even more beauty and would be able to get money from its appearence while it was trained to produce milkin a healthy way, it would take some time but it would produce a good amount of milk, after that he spoke with his other friend. The second friend said that he could make that cow produce a lot of milk in a month if he use this medicine, but he said that the cow would become sick and would die a quick painfull death. Since the farmer had NO HOPE in his cow he got the medicine and started milking it right away all he could, now everyone is waitting to see how fast the cow is going to die.

That is actually very good haha

To be fair, though, that is the publisher that bought the medicine. Developers just TRY to make games though they lack the knowledge to understand what makes gamers enjoy games.

Great game with some insane issues. There’s no economy because you cannot trade silver, and you can only trade items if you pay 18$ a month. If you want a single player experience, and have no interest in trading or grouping with people this is the game for you.

Quite the amount of replies, thank guys. It seems that there is a lot of deterring factors currently in this game then. I mean, a trading system hidden behind a pay wall, really? I haven’t seem that one in awhile… Apparently something was done to fight farmers aka gold sellers/traders ect I have read, but looks like they decided to monetize this dilemma? Idk, it looks interesting, and different than anything I have ever played, but with the feedback given, I really do not see many positives to jump into it right now, unless there are some Pro’s I am unaware of.
