I’d like to know if I can have a new character on my already existing team, without the exp bonus. Mostly to level on pair with a friend.

you can still level with them despite the level gap Owo
if you went faster then you can just help your friend until he/she catches up Owo you friend will still get exp as long as they’re in the level range of the map Owo

The answer is no. The only way to remove it is to delete characters.

However what both can do is to complete quests and / or maps, let your friend use the exp cards and you keep yours unused, that’s how my husband and I keep our characters on the same level range to go out together
