Though not the most eloquently phrased, I agree with you.
IMC puts so many restrictions on this game to reduce RMT and botting and then “hey, let’s reduce channels on the most botted map, it’ll drive prices of a rare items that almost every end game player needs through the roof and let bots sell it for even more silver that they can turn around and sell to players! Brilliant!”
Seriously, the Galok spawn nerf and channel reduction to Tenet Church is easily one of the stupidest moves IMC has done. Sadly, we know the reasons behind it and they’re not good ones, but it gives you an idea of where the game is at:
-
Galok spawn was reduced because it came along with a patch that increased spawn rates of most other mobs but reduced spawn timers on mini-boss like monsters on some maps, including Galoks. They were just copying a patch from kToS, so not like they were gonna change this themselves.
-
They stated that they “can’t” increase channels, meaning that their budget was cut by someone higher up in the company. This is obvious for their fix to the dungeon capacity problem, they cut map channels elsewhere just to get a little more room for dungeon instances. The simplest fix would be to just buy more space, but they don’t have the money for it, either because they can’t afford or more likely, because higher-ups don’t see it as an important enough issue to throw money at. What does IMC benefit from spending more money and giving us those channels back? It’s an issue that’s hurting the in-game economy and encouraging botting and RMT, but it’s not driving players away, so why spend money on fixing it? Just reduce channels to allow for more dungeon instances because that was serious enough to have the game start losing players.
