Buy to Play Worries

So with the recent trend of demanding B2P instead of F2P I’m now worried about wasting anymore of my valuable time on this game. I already have limited time as is to play but I cannot and will not justify paying for a game that’s also going to have a cash shop in it. (Black Desert Online, pay $30 to get into the game enjoy paying $100s more to get your character looking how you want.)

IMC’s been listening to the very vocal community as of late so I’m legitimately worried they might consider scrapping F2P and going B2P. If that is the case, I’d rather reduce my time playing now because not only are B2P games usually worse then F2P games in terms of content but they will punish you severely for not making additional transactions.

B2P will not reduce RMT by any stretch of the imagination and with how buggy and terrible ToS’s net code is I cannot justify an actual price tag on it.

Paying to get early access, I mean we also got TP for doing so and the first pack also got additional things. The people demanding B2P want this to be a permanent price on the game as well “You get nothing more!” kind of thing. They also think this’ll justify the removal of Token which it won’t, token will probably remain and the cosmetic part of the cash shop will probably become even more expensive(See my earlier example, Black Desert.)

So I’m now concerned about investing more time into Tree of Savior.

Tree of Savior is fine for a FREE TO PLAY game with a cash shop and having the cash shop being ‘helpful’ but not fully necessary is fine. However Terrible optimization, awful reaction time of the staff and bugs galore… It does not need to be a pay to play title.

So I’m now pretty worried about IMC changing their stand on the game being Free to Play to Buy to Play and if that’s the case then odds are we’d have to -rebuy- the game once it officially releases. (Isn’t that how Black Desert worked unless you bought that $60 pack?)

They won’t go into B2P now.
B2P normally have to entice you into the game, making you buy it so you can play it. Disliking it or not it’s already too late, since they already earn their profit.

ToS has tons of CBT and EA, some are already bored of it and left. Changing it to B2P now won’t get them much sales.

Bottomline is your worries are pointless.

I will pay any prices for cute hats, cute costumes, and cute husband.
Marriage system or riot.

Tldr don’t play then

It won’t happen for the simple reason that the game’s model has been f2p from the very beginning, right from the developer’s blog and director kim’s mouth in its early days and if they are going to revise it, they’d do it way in advance.

The people who are wishing to b2p are only doing wishful thinking because if they’ve done their background research they’d known that the game was slated for f2p right from the outset.

God, this reminds of me of that silly incident where everyone was panicking because they thought there would be a wipe. Unwarranted speculation never achieves anything of value.

hmmmm what about, “premium benefits” ? o.o i mean, i don’t really care if its B2P or F2P (i prefer f2p with tons of TP buying items) but if the “Premium” gives like “Access to Other Areas non-fp2 accessible” or something like that, might as well be good, i dunno tbh, as said before, i prefer F2P :stuck_out_tongue:

A lot of people are straight up pushing for B2P, the entire game becomes Buy to Access with a cash shop.

So… nothing Free about what they want, I prefer F2P as well…

But I feel my concerns have been addressed.

not really, at some point late last year, b2p was considered a possible option.

Oh me me me me… im cute XD

So, what you’re saying, is that the game isn’t good enough to justify paying for, and you’re worried you might have to pay for it?

Why would IMC listen to you? You’re obviously not going to sink any money into this either way.

Get lost, freeb!

So you’re telling me you’d pay to get in a game with severe netcode issues, GMs that refuse to patrol maps and ban hackers/botters, a game with no security system whatsoever so hackers can easily get in… Glitches and bugs that straight up can make the game unplayable, having features locked behind a cash shop despite having paid a fee to get in?

If you answered yes, you’re much more stupid then I originally gave credit.

One time pay to play a game and a minor cash shop with light cosmetics? Possibly sure, however if you’re going to charge me as much for an actual trip to the salon for a change in hair I can’t even transfer to another character, same with costumes… Let’s see that $30 begins to add another $30, no 60… no 100? It gets out of control, I support games I like and feel do a good job. Right now as a free game I can understand why the cosmetics are so expensive but if this becomes actual BUY TO ACCESS? That crap better drop to $1-5… Oh wait I didn’t factor in megaphones… scrolls… TOKEN?(Cause you know darn well they WILL NOT get rid of token.)
