Not everyone follow the news and are caught off-guard with content changes…
Using the mail for basic announcements seems fine enough. Better than making me click through a new popup window every time I see the splash screen/login screen like so many other mmo’s like to do.
Like a daily mail. IMC trying to be sneaky and cute. +1
are we looking at the start of a future of sending items via mail too lul
More importantly, are caught by Bugs Exploits that are happening on the Server, and can be BANNED if anything wrong occur in their inventories without they do ANYTHING do receive this wrong behavior.
Lots of +280 people banned because that Practonium Cube case with crashing channels happening ALL THE TIME, and without ANY warning that this was happening.
So, this email can be really usefull to not get caugh off-guard,
but…
BETTER LATE THAN NEVER. Let’s see they use this in the future when something like that happens.
The STAFF is trying to fight in every way to avoid player dropout. Wait for more desperate measures, as long as the player base is reducing
No. You must explicitly abuse the bug for you to get banned.
And IMC is quite forgiving on this, look at the last Symbol of Wealth issue.
To reproduce the Practonium case:
- Open the cube
- Channel must crash as soon as you open the cube.
I can assure you that the majority of people DID crash the channel with their main account or alternative account. People wanting to get around legit bans saying they did nothing isn’t new in MMOs.
There are false positives but I doubt there were many of them in this case.
As long you don’t abuse things you won’t get banned in most of cases but if you do abuse, you might end up getting someone in the mess depending on the nature of the bug. For example: Such a rare case as crashing the channel for yourself and resetting someone’s else Mystical Cube more than X times to pass the threshold IMC used for banning - people didn’t get banned for opening the Mystical Cube only twice.
Regarding the Practonium issue, part of the reason they went for bans is because channel crashes directly affected other players. It went beyond a personal exploit and interfered with others.
The Symbol of Wealth issue did not have a direct affect on players, thus no bans. They’d keep an eye on people who used it a bunch, as it’s more likely that they’ll use other exploits in the future.
