Built-in video capture files only playback audio

Date and Time : 1PM GMT+8

Bug Description :
The built-in video captured files are not working correctly. After recording and saving video, playing the files again causes them to play with no video; only audio. In both Media Player Classic and Windows Media Player the issue occurs. Windows Explorer shows a thumbnail for the videos, but the files themselves do not show the video at all.

Steps to reproduce the issue :

  1. Press F12 in-game to start recording video.
  2. Press F12 again to finish recording video and save the file to the “TreeOfSavior\Release\avicapture” folder.
  3. Play the video file in a media player.

Same here. When I play the files, it only shows a black screen and the sfx.

Open the video with VLC

VLC is not a solution, for two reasons. Firstly, VLC sucks. Secondly, the files only working correctly with one specific player for as yet unknown reasons is not an acceptable outcome.

Looks like a codec is missing.

I said use VLC to view what you have recorded , if you want a video for all players , make an encode to the file

There is absolutely no reason that the videos should only play in VLC. Not only does it make no sense for this to be the case, it is also ridiculous to demand that everyone should install a crappy media player for the sake of viewing poorly encoded videos.

This is a screw up on IMC’s part and it’s something they need to fix.

Go into the MPC options, Internal filters, and tick “AVI” - if that doesn’t work, tick anything that says MPEG-1 or MJPEG. If it still doesn’t work, go to your codec settings and do the same.

The game is using Bandicam, which uses the old, old MPEG-1 codec. For some reason, it’s still popular in Asian countries.

If that doesn’t work, just download their codec - http://www.bandicam.com/codec/

That did indeed get it working in MPC, thank you.

That said, I’m still unable to get any video in Movie Maker or convert it to a WebM successfully, so I’d prefer a more wide-reaching fix, though I’m not sure if that’s possible so long as Bandicam is used for the video capturing.

Edit: Installing the latest avisynth gets it working for converting to WebM, so I guess that’s good enough to mark this as solved.
