I got a question regarding a wizard build.
According to this planner
the build I wanted to try is not possible, but I heard that it actually is, so the planner might be buggy.
I wanted to go Wiz Wiz Link Link Ele Ele or for the sake of leveling Wiz-WIz-Link-Ele-Link-Ele.
Any info on the restrictions on picking classes in that regard is highly helpful.

Both build are possible.
There’s no restriction or limit now as long as you reach specific rank of those class.
Please use this as build simu instead.
As it is now going Wiz 2 would be a total waste. Either go Wiz 1 or Wiz 3. Surespell does nothing at the moment. Reflect shield has the same effect.
This class builder is not update long time ago since you can choose class freely now so nobody need it anymore
The only restriction to selecting class is the rank it becomes available. But if you wanted, you could even go wiz 3, ele 2, then pyro 1, not that you would of course. You can select the roll at any time though as long as it is opened by the rank you are at, and you can go back to any previous job at any time upon hitting a new rank, whether you have already gone with the job before or not. I saw a post at some point saying you could only select it when it is first available and could not go back to it if you did not select it, this information was found to be incorrect. That’s how it work back then. Basically it’s an outdate information than incorrect because they made change to it in our newest game version so there’s no restriction like that anymore.

Oh I know Wiz 2 is kinda useless. I mainly want a second circle in Wiz so I have fewer spells to worry about. Plus I had to choose between 1 rank in pyro or cryo and only 1 circle is too weak in my opinion.
Yeah I know reflect shield does the same as surespell.
But having 5 or 10 in reflect shield is the difference there I think. Also there is a staff or rod with +3 to earthquake, so if I could get my hands on that it would be a 13 Earthquake.
The wizard itself needs some love anyways. The scaling of energy bolt and Earthquake are a bit off at the later levels.
Pyro and cryo both have secondary effects like burning and freeze.
Wizard does not have that, so it would be adequate to have a damage at wiz 2 at least as high as those 2.
Or get special attributes for energy bolt at c2 and c3 for blt and quake.
And yeah I was thinking of switching c2 wiz with pyro or cryo, but as I said I dont like too many spells with low value.
It might be apealing at early levels, but lategame (having a level 130 already) it seems useless to put effort and money for attributes into those skills.
Supercell is a pvp skill really. Using reflect shield negates spell cancel in pve but not pvp. There are more skills later on that have cast times as well, such as electrocute and hail in the elementalist class.
Honestly, C1 pyro and cyro are nothing to laugh at. Both have some strong uses such as freezing enemies with cyro or adding fire to attacks on pyro. It may feel like a waste jsut going one circle, but its not too bad an idea if used properly.
You may think that going c1 cryo/pyro is weak, but both classes are stronger than wiz2. The only thing you gain, surespell isn’t even worth a skill slot due to it’s poor duration, sp cost, and the fact that it just brings you back up to par with swordies, since they can cast without being interrupted. You might as well get cryo’s freezing abilities to buy you the time needed to cast than make up for your class weakness. Or pyro for the raw power. You will detest going wizard 2. Linker can’t even compensate for your lack of power. EQ breaks links, so you only have energy bolt. 3 shots of energy bolt isn’t even going to fully defeat linked mobs. It’s really. That. Bad.
as someone that did the Wiz 2 leveling, I must tell you that you will need one of this…

patience
or a party.
Wiz 2 can get the benefit of higher reflect shield so its not all that bad, but that alone may not be worthwhile. Not sure I would have done wiz2 if I wasn’t going for the 3rd circle honestly.
