Buffs worth leveling? [Priest 3]

Hey guys,

do you think it’s worth to level buffs you can buy from a pardoner?

Leaving out Blessing and Sacrament (even Aspersion if you don’t want to go Chaplain) makes up for more levels of other stuff.

At first I wanted to max Blessing and/or Sacrament but since warps are cheap and buffs last 1+ hours it really doesn’t seem worth it.

It really depends on the end goal you have planned for your circle 3 Priest and the type of character you want to play (auto-attack melee, full support healer, utility mixture build, debuffer, etc). It also depends on how often you do dungeons/party with other people. I know when I’ve run grinding parties with melee characters they worship my level 15 Blessing on one of my Priests lol.

For a circle 3 Priest that isn’t going Chaplain, I would say certainly don’t waste your points (any of them!) getting Aspersion. The defense received from it can hardly be felt (a lot of people would say that how defense works in this game is a joke), and if you do want it you can still pick it up for an hour from a buff shop. The use of it as an attack is very lackluster for the amount of points you’d need to put into it. So in general I’d say if you aren’t going Chaplain, don’t bother with Aspersion at all.

Blessing and Sacrement are a little trickier. There are lots of very good arguments for or against picking them up (and to what levels are best to get them at) based on the type of Priest build you’re trying to make. For those buffs there is no one-size answer as simple as there is with Aspersion, so if you would like more info about if it’s worthwhile to pick those up, we’d need to know more about the plan you have for that character in later game.

Blessing affects a certain number of hits. So, even if pardoner’s buff lasts 1h, it will go off in a few minutes of attacking.

If you are goning Chaplain, get at least Aspersion on Max, because it will cast every attack with Chaplain’s Aspergillum; otherwise, leave it on lv1 and get some defense options (mass heal, revive) + lv 10~5 blessing.

Just one more thing: doesn’t matter what you’re building; if you are going priest c3, ALWAYS pick stone skin, at least lv 4.

@whiningwillow I’m going for a Cleric C2 - Priest C3 - Oracle - Kabbalist when F2P comes, which buffs should I get? atm I feel like maxing Mass Heal, Stone Skin and Revive so I’ve to decide what to do with the rest of the points.

I think about getting 1 points in Monstrance and at least 4 in Ress too but undecided what to do with the rest of the points for the buffs (or if I should get them at all).

Also for stat distribution I was thinking for a 4:2:1 SPR:INT:CON ratio but I’m also thinking about skipping INT and instead go for 4:1 SPR:CON to scale my buffs/debuffs really nicely (aswell as Mass Heal), what do you think would benefit me the most?

@frankrodriiguez1996 In that case, I would say: 1 point in Monstrance, 15 points in Blessing, 10 in Revive, 10 in Mass Heal, 5 in Stone Skin and either 3 points in Resurrection and 1 point in Sacrement, or 4 points in Resurrection and bypassing Sacrement entirely.

Some Priests like to have even just the level 1 Sacrement so they can throw the buff up on party members or themselves to get the extra attack to help kill things faster if the Sacrement they purchase from the buff shop wears off. Considering you won’t have any other good skills to use on flying-type monsters for a while, that might be helpful. But if you want to just warp back to town to refresh your Sacrement every time, it isn’t needed.

The level 15 Blessing will also help with that, making it where you can mow down flying-types easier if you find yourself drowning in them. Plus, it’s the most annoying one to keep going back to down to refresh due to its hit limit.

I would say of those two stat options, the 4:2:1 SPR:INT:CON is the better ratio. When you get Kabbalist at rank 7 that INT will help you do more damage with your Kabbalist skills. Mass Heal also scales with INT so you wouldn’t be losing out on that front (and you get a 10% bonus with every rank), so you’d get a bigger double-bonus out of it then you would going pure SPR/CON. I think with that ratio you would still have enough SPR to scale your buffs and debuffs well.

Here you can see the prices to upgrade your attributes:

Max Bless is 206k.
Because of buff hit limit, constantly usage and advantage. it’s worth it.

Aspersion without Chaplain is not worth. Leave at 0.

Sacrament attribute only have 5 levels and cost 25.8k. Why not?

@whiningwillow alright thanks a lot! my build so far looks like this

Decided to leave Cure at 1 just for utility.

I’ll go for the 4:2:1 SPR:INT:CON ratio then

Thanks for all the input!

I’ll screw my initial chaplain plan and go full support, I guess.
Still undecided what to choose after C1>P1-3>C2 but this seems to be a solid base to build from.

Topic can still be used to discuss the situation with “usual” priests and pardoners.
