Buffs Override Each Other, Stop debuffing buffs!

So yes buffs as well as debuffs override each other.

So if you know you have less than max skill points and less than max attributes and someone else that is the same class in your party, check to see if yours is less or not.

100% of my dungeon runs has had the person with the worst buff consistently overriding the better buffs. And yes I’ve tried many times to time my buffs to override theirs for the better one but they somehow always stop for a moment and wait to do it after me. I’ve tried talking about it before and got ignored by people. I’ll hold back when my buffs suck but geeze people I want to get dungeons run a little more smoothly.

So just please stop spamming your buffs when it could be hurting the party!

Thank You.

Or request this as a petition so lower level buffs don’t override higher level buffs. However I would like this as well so my higher level blessing/sacrament doesn’t get replaced with a lower one on my priest :\

Err… you should put in a suggestion thread to imc asking that lower level buffs not be able to override higher level buffs…

what’s the buffs cap?

Another great example of the stellar programming this game showcases.

I was using Spiritual Chain earlier and this one Elementalist continued to run away everytime he was tethered, making his Quick Cast very hard to share. I tried to explain what it was but he either didn’t care or didn’t understand.

It’d be nice if buffs just… didn’t do that.

ragnarok is exactly the same , but no one complained.

buffing ennemy with ■■■■ buffs is even a part of the gameplay.

I went in a dungeon once only to get my 1 hour sacrament from pardoner replaced by monstrance from a priest c1.

oh my god. same here. Every time I cast spiritual chain people either 1. stare at it and not buff (even when I go “hey the link is for shared buffs”) or 2. break it within 2 seconds by running around. I honestly understand if they’re trying to dodge attacks and I chose to cast at the wrong time but I’ve only pulled off a successful spiritual chain in like two runs where people knew to stay relatively in range.

I think people just don’t know how to work with linker quite yet. same with chrono. literally everyone tries to attack during stop and I’m like hey you’re dying I did this because you’re dying man go get out of range and get heals

And not a single group has thought to jump around and let the mobs/boss hit slow consistently, even when they’re trying to run. i’m like absolutely useless as chrono right now asides from crit buffs.

ANYWAYS A BIT OFF TOPIC HAHA IT’S KIND OF ON THE FLIP SIDE OF THINGS but a higher level buff priority mechanic would be nice. though I sort of like the idea of players talking and sorting stuff out beforehand, albeit how rare people who communicate are.

No. This topic is targeted at the players. IMC does not need to do anything about this. This kind of mechanic is in a lot of games. I’m NOT asking for hand holding. I’m asking for people to learn to play the game or be informed about things they may not have known, which clearly is the issue.

IMC should fix this. It’s a great quality of life feature.

Okay… well it’s your thread, best of luck with that.

EDIT: I personally suggest using megaphones instead. You’ll reach a far larger audience…

I know the perfect solution

IMC should make it so that only the highest level buff + attribute takes effect

But every separate copy of the same buff is applied at once, taking up additional buff slots, only replacing the oldest one if there’s too many

Everyone wins! The lazy players who want the best results no matter how much they spam will get the strongest buffs no matter what, the coordinated players will be rewarded with optimal play by choosing which buffs to apply, Daino (and Tokens) stay relevant without being necessary, and IMC gains good press for listening to the fans (and Token sales)!

I find it amazing that you people don’t want to stop mindlessly spamming your buffs so much that you are crying at IMC to fix this problem when it’s clearly YOUR problem.

Just stop spamming and learn to be a bit more tactical. Is that really so hard?

christ. someone didn’t eat their cheerios this morning.

y u no buy token for buff limit? oh wait, you did? >_>

the buff limit is stupid for everything. it limits class combos in a game that’s main attraction is encouraging class combos.

but if you remove the buff limit, what should krivis do? well daino is for characters who want to have alot of buffs right? so to keep them from raging over a reset or whatever, why not just have daino make buffs stronger?

I suggest + lvl (1? 2?) to x amount of buffs for daino, and removing all buff limits.

As far as I can tell, you actually can’t know what level buffs anyone else has.

Sure, you can assume based on how far along they are in their circle, but it won’t tell you what their actual skill is even after it’s applied.

Sounds like it needs fixed but in your scenario did you ASK them why they kept overriding your buff or if they even knew that? I actually didn’t know this either.

This is a pretty stupid system though… Also I don’t like links from linkers because one linker in a random field used it to nearly kill me cause his AFK teammate wouldn’t move from a crowded mob area -_-;

@Sorcerebro
I’m not talking about buff limit. This has nothing to do with buff limit. This has to do with people using the same exact buffs.

@UnLuckyCat
You can tell by the numbers. Blessing is the most obvious because the numbers are pretty in your face and yet this is the buff I have the most problems with people with.

@dawnintodark
Yes I have asked people to stop overriding them. When I don’t get any kind of response then I have no choice to do the above and try to override theirs but it’s not easy.

Basically what I’m asking people is that if you know you haven’t maxed your level and attributes in the skill, then people talk with or observe the buffs of your other party members when you have the same skills.

I get why people are upset and with no real way to tell whose buff is “better” It’s easier fix to have it program which buff priority then expecting groups to hash it out. And Also could be unintentional you’ve leveled for x amount of hours used to buffing at certain intervals and in party no different since just muscle memory.

Although this can work to ways i feel should also be party priority as with the buff limit I’m fed up of having buffs (I’m looking at you 3k pardoner buffs) replaced by buff cap by just walking pass group buffing., Maybe add a way of locking buffs the way we do items.
