Buff Shop or Scroll Market

Hi all,

I made a cleric character for the purpose of becoming a buffer and intended to go the usual C1>P1-2-3>Pardoner1-2 route like the standard build for buff shop. However, as I researched some more and discovered SCROLLS, I need to rethink my character.

My character is C1>P1 at the moment and I haven’t picked my 3rd rank class advance yet. For Cleric, I have 5 heal, 5 safety zone and 5 points left over . For Priest, I have 5 Blessing, 1 Aspersion and 9 points left over.

From what I’ve read, Simony scolls are now based on the skill level and the Simony level, and the level of the scroll is the lower of the two, after rebalances were made.
Ie. L5 blessing + L10 simony = L5 blessing…

So the joy of picking every single class skill and scrolling them all at a high level is no longer possible…=_=

Q: Is it possible to make a decent scroller and buffer with what precious skill points we have to distribute?

To all the buffers and scrollers out there, do you find that you get a decent return on silver after all the costs on buff and scroll materials? Which route would you recommend for a beginner like me?

Because of Divine Might, I want to go for Cleric 3 to get 10 levels of it. Having 10 extra levels of skill power is too astronomical to pass on…

I wonder if I should ditch reaching the priest 3 circle first and go for the cleric 3 circle instead because I can use my Divine Might to craft higher scrolls (this still works in affecting Simony, right?)

Some questions I have

  1. Is it okay to not have a max buff shop? L5 Aspersion, L5 Bless w/ max attributes,…sounds pretty bad with no sacrament :frowning:
  2. Does anyone know how popular Monstrance scrolls are? Cure scolls?
  3. Do you craft one scroll at a time or can you do it in batch loads?
  4. Is it worth investing one rank into Krivis for Daino, Aukuras and Zalciai or should I focus on Priest?
  5. Is Deprotected Zone L15 scroll worth it? Or are my points better off in Safety Zone to keep my team alive?

This isn’t my main char, so I don’t expect it to reach past rank 6 anytime soon. My main idea to level up my character is to reach L50 and do dungeons until L70, hopefully find a friend to help get me to L80, burn my exp cards to 86, grind it out to 90 and do dungeons and missions forever…

Thank you all. I appreciate any help, comments, suggestions and free talt :smiley:

The only scrolls that people buy are daino and barrier, so if you want to craft scrolls you should get krivis and pala3. I think buffs shops are more profitable tho but i didn’t research it.

Ps you can’t scrolls bless

The [spell shop] requires 5 ranks. Meaning no space for paladin 3. You can argue only needing 4 ranks, but that means selling under level buffs. As for profit, people put up 0 profit shops so you will be banking on people being too lazy to go to these 0 profit (meaning cheap) shops.

Another problem is soul crystals and other self res options competing with [resurrection] and [revive]. Ignoring the fact that both skills promote “bad play”, to my knowledge only ET supports those 2 skills. This makes investing in the priest kinda pointless. Oh and there’s that thing where both [sacrament] and [bless] fall off later on ([aspersion] too considering how much you actually get from the skill vs how much damage you take)

Lastly, [spell shop] tax is 50% while market tax is 10-30% depending on you having a token or not. If you trade in talt (or some other item) then there is 0 tax.

@c2gaming

Good thing you pointed out the soul crystal taking over Res and Revive because I was hoping those would be super desired in ET :frowning:
Even though Bless, Aspersion and Sacrament supposedly “fall off” late game, isn’t the damage dealt over the time with all the added bonus damage still better than nothing?

Ie. 150 dmg x 180 hits = 27000 dmg x #attackers
It can’t be that bad in ET, can it? I’ve read quite a few people arguing about P3 being useful or useles for late game based on current ET standard play.

50% tax on spell shop is crazy @.@…I can’t imagine profit margins being more than a couple hundred of silver per bless. But early game for leveling up, I find the buff shops super useful for killing enemies faster so it’s still an incentive to make one to help others out. I will be busy with work pretty soon so I at least hoped to make a “useful afk” while I’m at work.

@andy_aao I agree with Daino and Barrier being probably the most ideal scroll for people to buy. I know Bless can’t be scrolled because it would kill the role of a priest for most people. Going Paly3 is a serious commitment though. Might try it on an kriv/paly alt some time in the distant future.

On another note, after more digging in the forums, I found that Divine Might will only give +1 skill level, and leveling it up only allows for more uses for that +1, so getting divine might 10 won’t give the +10 skill bonus I had originally thought --> scratch scrolling with it…

The sad part is, it is “better than nothing” for 3 ranks. That is expensive for “better than nothing”. The other sad part is I believe you can’t use [spell shop] inside ET because it is a dungeon. You invest in it, but can’t use it.

@c2gaming

Even if you can’t set up a shop in ET, is it still worth having those buffs in the the dungeon? I’ve heard from a friend that DPS far outweighs healing late game. Maybe the value of priest 3 is getting more revive and resurrection, and stone skin, and not buffs and becoming a crazy chaplain?

There is a thread here discussing the viability of [stone skin] in ET because a lot of monsters in ET deal magic damage AKA unblockable damage.

And as for [resurrection] and [revive], they promote “bad” play. I call it “bad” (for lack of a better word) because for your investment to be worth it, people have to die. You don’t want to die, ever. When (not if) people get good, your investment becomes pointless. That’s me though. Some people will swear by those skills.
