Brandish + Karacha vs. Elements for Dragoon

Hey there, this is another thread about which weapon to pick, yes.

I’d be very thankful if someone with experience as Dragoon could help out in here, since there is a lot of myths about how elemental damage works (for one, someone once mentioned on another thread that concentrate would proc once for each elemental damage, making Elements insanely good).

If you’d look at the weapon damage numbers, the obvious pick would be Brandish + Karacha, but then we have the Dragoon attribute adding 20% damage dealt to large monsters by using a 2h spear (I believe it’s 30% for bosses, either that or 10% lol, weird wording on the description).

Honestly it’s all very complicated to theorize about, it’d be much better if someone who actually has some empirical information helped with these doubts.

Did you find out which was better? So Brandish + Karacha is?

Not really, teehee. I think Brandish + Karacha are better for sure until you hit Dragoon. After that… not sure anymore :stuck_out_tongue:

So here’s the math:

Brandish + Karacha Dagger
Medium: 187+24(str)+49 (medium) + 153(karacha) = 413
large: 187+24+322(large)+153(karacha) = 686

Catacombs Pike
Medium: 358
Large: 358 + 188 = 546

I use the average damage for each weapon meaning (min + max) / 2.

So brandish + karacha dagger does more raw damage, but the dragoon attribute gives +20% for large and +10% for boss. I’m not sure whether that +20% is added to your skill damage, your total physical attack, or just the weapons attack tho. WORST CASE SCENARIO it’s only +20% of weapon attack. In that case the Catacombs Pike would now do 1.2*546= 655 dmg. If it’s +20% to total damage (including skill + str etc) the 2handed pike would do much more obviously.

So anybody know where the +20% is added :open_mouth:
