Recurve bow is the easiest thing to get a hold of, with good enough damage. You need to go down to the crystal mines lowest lvl ( the hidden one past where you fight Mirtis for the revelation ) and hunt minos ( you need 8 bones to make the bow ). The mobs down there also drop the recipe for the recurve bow, I believe. They’re lvl 100, so you might need help if you’re just 75.
i feel like getting iron bow to +10 - +15 might be worth more for dex/ spr builds, it’s cheaper for sure, Gendawa melted my funds getting it to +5
It is really good, but iron bow is a lvl 40 bow.

doesn’t matter much when upgrading it to +15 is less money invested than getting your level 75 to +7 resulting in similar base damage
archer needs +10 to not get damage reduction, so all bows that are below at least +10 do less damage than your base damage would like you to believe

From the wiki and other posted threads:
Missile
Suffers a 25% damage penalty against M size enemies.
Suffers a 50% damage penalty against L size enemies.
Suffers a 50% damage penalty against XL size enemies.
if you look around multiple people are reporting that +10 removes the reduction completely, which is a big part why archers are considered a difficult class, you need funds to keep your weapon at +10 all the time to not face those penalties,
i’ve heard that bosses get a 50% penalty, since they are ultra large,and it certainly feels that way, but i didn’t confirm it myself.

The reduction is hihger for large mobs then for medium.
And i think we gain an buff past +10
