BOTter's Heaven (Royal Mausoleum Construction's Chapel)

hmmm idk if IMC got an action already for botters but if you want them to be caught on act… you can go to Royal Mausoleum Construction’s Chapel’s MAP…

botters stay there on 4 square of the map…

SUGGESTION TO ANTI BOT:
If a player notice some1 is botting… he should be able to right click the BOTter and select an option “Ask Question”…

a window will promt to the accused BOTter to be ask with few simple questions that will test if they are controlled by human or not (question such as simple math(answer should be typed), multiple choice with multiple answer)…

the window will appear in random coordinates… and the player cant attack if the prompt is active… if the promt expire (While keep on Active state [keep on pressing keypads or moving])… he will be consider botter…

if the accused botter fails to answer the question for 3 times (While keep on Active state [keep on pressing keypads or moving])… the system will detect him as BOT… UNLESS he is not literally not pressing anything (AFK)…

else if the botter successfully answered the questions… the player who accused on botting must not be able to “activate the ask question” system for a certain period of time.

Either bot or people who AFK/Alt-tab and leave a weight on the auto attack.

they are botter since they can do some complex move such as moving to coordinate and sitting… following a certain macro…

Lol this means you can ban AFK people too.

Oh yeah… w8 lemme think of other suggestion…

ok eddited

Terrible Idea…

Hate a person? Just get people to follow him and continually harrass with this “Ask Question” method.

Over and Over and Over and Over… This is why “Bot Checking” is never initiated by other users.

Power corrupts. Absolute power corrupts absolutely.

Read carefully…

“else if the botter successfully answered the questions… the player who accused on botting must not be able to “activate the ask question” system for a certain period of time.”

Plural

I did read it carefully

There is always going to be a problem with AFK/Botting, it is a continuous battle between developers and botters. In the end, if removing the botters causes more harm to legitimate players, legitimate players cease to play.

As far as i know IMC is battling botters… thats why they implemented a patch back in a few days to counter 3rd party system (afaik)… (they even do that even that it can cause error… remember the IPF error?)…

Hmm… botting is illegal… it can affect economy and other players playing in botting area… you can search to google what other harm botting can do to an MMO…

I know the effects

As I said, developers can only combat the problem, but each time they implement a countermeasure, it is circumvented almost immediately.

I’m not saying I condone botting, nor am I saying nothing should be done. I simply pointed out the flaw in this suggestion. Other games have done similar things, with Captcha’s that target people randomly - it can break immersion (and annoy the crap out of me - as I play with a controller…) but these are also possible to enter via a Bot.

I think that the best method that has been possible is the ol’ “Right click, report as botter”. This gives the developer a “watchlist” that they can keep an eye on. From there it can be filtered - if a user is online for excessive hours, hasn’t left an area, appears to be doing the same thing, and appears unresponsive - you most likely have yourself a bot. The only downside to this method is the manpower required to vet and confirm the botters. Automatic systems will always have a chance at false positives.

There are many methods, and they all have drawbacks, however any method that allows other users to initiate “bot checking” have always ended in misery - because it can be used for censorship, suppression, loot/kill theft, general abuse, and trolling.

I am going to go back to the game now, it has been a nice discourse :).

I agree with @colderflame. That’s a terrible idea. This option can and WILL be abused and I for example do not want to be interrupted by some stupid guy who’ve thought that I may be (or may be not) a bot looking at how I mindlessly grinding mobs and ignoring everyone and everything listening to some music. Also, being caught in the middle of mobtraining with a pop-up window locking your ability to attack - do I even have to comment this?

OK thats a suggestion… if you find it terrible then its fine ^^…

i have a lot in my mind right now but i wont bother telling it ^^… people hate changes… especially if this can affect them… ok cya on game…

“a weight” 2k15 jk :joy:

Who cares, botter or auto-fire abuser (also botter imo), BAN them all.
They are pure cancer.

brilliant idea !

let’s say you bornfire-AFK for toilet and when you come back yer banned just because some f@ggot reported you, and since you was busy taking a shjt down the toilet, the question was not answered, you-are-banned. Happy ending ?

yeah nice reading… you definitely understand what is written on the post… bravo! - sarcasm…

(sorry i said i wont reply on this thread anymore… but… oh well hahahaha)

if the accused botter fails to answer the question for 3 times (While keep on Active state [keep on pressing keypads or moving])… the system will detect him as BOT… UNLESS he is not literally not pressing anything (AFK)…

Can’t do this. This makes trolling people sooooooooooooooooooooooooooo easy

“else if the botter successfully answered the questions… the player who accused on botting must not be able to “activate the ask question” system for a certain period of time”.

you cant actually spam this feature since it can be abused… if proven that the accused botter is not a botter… then the troller (idk what to call them), cant use this feature for a certain period of time.

I don’t know i agree we need something for bots and afk key lockers but i feel like this would still generate a harassment issue.

Kind of a off topic but…

When I was at crystal mine 1F, I saw tons of afkers aka AA bots when I was hunting for red gems
I decided to ks them since I can 1 hit mobs there easily and after a few mins, A black mist appear
It got my attention and my screen became wider (zoom out). It was a monster named “Grim Reaper”.

This monster is level 42 if my memory serves me right (didn’t get SS though).
and in a blink of an eye, it killed all the AA bots there (lv 48 cleric, 53 highlander, and a hunter). I decided to fight it for fun but this thing has a huge hp and its magic attacks is hitting 800+ damage on me, its physical attack are lame and didnt hit me at all. After a few mins of fighting it suddenly disappear and left.

Maybe this thing is hunting bots, if only IMC can put more of this things in dungeons where afker/AA bots swarm, my hunting/farming will be much smoother :sparkles:
