Bots in Dungeons/Missions?

I’ve been in a few runs lately where some players seem to idle/AFK in awkward moments, ignore all chats, and sometimes forget their role altogether (last party was with a Swordsman heavy in CON/Plate who only attacked mobs that were pulled near the central radius of the party, forcing myself to make all the pulls as a Mage when we didn’t have a healer). I mean this guy was either dense… or scripted.

Has anyone else noticed strange things like this lately? Do you feel they are just players who are ignorant of party play (or abusive of the lack of social functions able to be taken against them inside party-finder), or do you feel there may be a new breed of bot afoot?

Sounds like how my scrub friend plays

Nope just sounds like a noobie player. Check their gear next time to see if it is logical to their levels.

I’ve encountered around 3 party members of different class behaving the same: 2 archers and 1 healer

With this topic, I’m no longer sure if they’re just unenthusiastic of the DG or new type of advanced botting.

lol yeah, I’ve encountered those too =P

But something has felt… off. Only in the last couple days actually. These players I suspect don’t do anything logically. No jumping at all at any given random point in the dungeon like everyone and their mom does for some reason (myself included). Self buffs are always cast in order in the same timing. And the best tell I can see is… nothing done is overly stupid or poorly done. Just simply not “smart” lol Like they can kill things effectively, as expected, but after that they sit around like “herpdederp, wut do” waiting for some trigger to happen it feels like.

B&S had proximity bots too in their dungeons; they’d run from one checkpoint to the next after everything was cleared. But they were purely AFK in the interim and didn’t contribute. It feels similar to that except if the party starts engaging in battle then they do to, but if there is no battle they just stand there until the party gets X distance away.

No those arent bots, they just want to AFK and check sometimes and get the exp and rewards

Do they have familiar names or look like ours? Typically from what I know bots haven’t had Titles in their names from what I’ve seen while PvEing.

Hmm so far yeah the names were somewhat normalish (nothing so far like sucbnievns or nc9218fn etc), but I haven’t kept track of them yet. This last Swordsman stood out though to make me wonder if what I’ve been seeing was a laziness trend, stupidity, or automated in some fashion. So I’ll be keeping names of players from here on I think.

I mean not having a kick, or a matchmaking blacklist we can add people to, is pretty rough and I can understand if people are using that to their advantage right now and cutting corners. Not that I agree with it but that it makes sense; they can’t be punished atm. Idk felt less like laziness or scrubiness and more like logic gates lol
