Bot Prevention by prohibiting urls and others

Now that you’ve implemented the god blesssed limitation on shouts the next step is to limit all chat spammers.

in the same way as implement prevention of profanity just bann words such as

www.
.net
.org

etc.

i dont see any reasons to include urls in the chat anyways.

I am iffy about the limitation on the trade system. Its killing the community, and destroying the market flow.

May i also suggest a buyback option for NPCs I accidentally sold some items that i am pretty bummed about.

I may be mistaken but I think there’s already a buyback option, but only on the 10 last item sold or so tho, just check below the buy and sell squares.

I agree with the profanity ban, everything that makes spammer’s life harder without hurting the community is fine for me.

Trade limitation is just bad,and in top of that u have the potential thing wich make it even worst, just leave the potential thing and open trade,if u’re not premium u just need to go solo everywhere to get what you need,so u must avoid playing with friends… (I am premium so it’s not a qq it’s reality)

Nah, the bot isn’t even using proper url anymore. Recently they go with 3VV to represent www.

Ban the names of their pages then

and then they will do things like MM0B4NK and things like that, it’s pointless.

Right,les’t do nothing,cheers.

When it comes to scripts VS scripts it’s a losing game against bots/RMT.
They make a living off those annoying spam messages. For every filter IMC comes up with they will find a workaround. You need shifts of people looking at the chat and banning accounts for good because RMT spam is 24\7.

Probably really hard to implement a filter that would block URLs because sometimes there is a legitimate use for posting a URL and also the gold spammers would always find a way around it. The megaphone update has already done a lot to minimize the problem.

Buyback would be handy.

I will not comment here about trade because it’ll hijack the entire thread. Also there’s already plenty of posts about it.

Because there is totally no way that they somehow obfuscate their spelling? So innocent… So naive…

BTW let’s just disable chat because that’s what we also did to the trading system, and it totally worked!

I know they’ll get workarounds, but I can’t understand why should we make their life easy,if you prefer to do nothing its your call, not mine.

The thing is that filters are not the way to go in this case. Of course, they can help, but their administration will cost IMC too much time. You need to make sure that the RMTs have to put in like 100 times more work / time / effort than IMC. The lvl 40 requirement seems to be the right first step in this case, others can follow, but a chat filter is not a good option.

Rising requirement lvl is only make them bot and hack more and more to get to higher lvls,so I dont think is a good solution unless they do something about the hack, wich acording to a programer friend can be done in a day,but considering the videos about the hack ‘‘tool’’ are there for more than 4 months I don’t know if that’s gonna happen any time soon

Yes the megaphone level requirements exaggerates the botting problem but it is a first step in the right direction. Remember, it is something the community asked for, and IMC delivered.

Your programmer friend is either misinformed about the situation or just plain wrong. He’s probably referring to the ability to hotfix a well known exploit in the game. Creating a generic anti-hack tool is very hard and there is always a way around it.
