Blurr's Thoughts on a PVP Channel

Damn. That Shia pic really fits the I WANT IT part.

These discussion are merely a sort of petition to see (not by the devs, but the community) if PVP channels or PK channels are important to some. Its basically between us gamers, so whatever the devs has stated about it really doesn’t matter, as this a topic is just another player wanting to know other players opinions on the matter. Nonetheless, the devs will see these posts and judge and, Im sure, will consider them. Whether its sooner or later is only a matter of time, but being that we are just in cbt2, the topic will just stay as a “suggestion”. One in which im sure will continue for a long time. And as you know, if you get enough ppl to sign up for the same cause, you might just get what you’re asking for (like a petition). So, being that im sort of in the middle of the topic (whether nay or for it), i will respect and take into account everyones opinion. As of right now, Im actually leaning to being for it only because there were alot of good reasoning and possibilities to enjoy the game with more content, not to say i wouldnt enjoy the game as it is. I had the same concerns as the naysayers before, not wanting to be robbed of loot and exp or camped or overrun by higher lvls and such, but im sure IMC, if they do add this feature, will balance and make it as fair as possible. And lets say it did went bad or was unfair or too many ppl grieving, IMC can simply take it off and either rework to make it better or take it off completely. Sry for the rants, but thats just my opinion. I could be wrong. I just cant wait for this game to come out.

make an everywhere pk channel where no place is safe, increase exp rate to 1000000% > profit

Let’s also keep in mind that even if our requests don’t completely come to fruition, at least our voices were heard.

Hell, if worse comes to worse, maybe we’ll be given PVP rooms that stay open for anyone, 24/7, for all to chill, fight, socialize, test builds, etc. Regardless of having a PVP channel or not, I feel having at least one or two of these open PVP rooms like Ragnarok used to have, would be essential.

What do y’all think? Any positive or fun experiences with that kind of PVP as well?

I really like that idea. I remember just sitting there in the pvp room in RO1 watching ppl fight. As soon as someone hits me, i be like “oh its on MF” lol… If i lose, its like “oh its time to go hunt/lvl more or reset skills and stats” rinse and repeat to prepare myself for WOE. It was fun!

Wow Blurr! i remember you, pain in the ass rogue.
Yes PvP Viva la PvP channel; Would be a great edition to the game, till large scale pvp is implemented.

I am all about 1vs1 and Large scale PvP, I still log into RO saturday and sunday only to WoE and that is at least 70% of players who WoE still.

PK Channel rules:

-You are not able to party up
-You cannot benefit from other Players buffs (aka using an alt to buff themself whatsoever)
-If you recieve damage from 3 different sources (must be player no monster) within a time limit of 4 seconds you gain invincibility and removal of all negative status effects for 3 seconds
-You gain bloodlust after killing other players each stack of 10 bloodlust gives you a 5% bonus Exp and drop rate up to a maximum of 25%
-The player with the highest bloodlust is marked as MVP and gains an additional 25% exp/drop - you can track his location any time
-PK channel is split into a level 1-74 // 75-119 // 120-159 // 160-??? you get the hint
-Upon death you are loosing all of your bloodlust yes you got that right all the juice is gone

Q&A:

Q: But bonus exp % QQ unfair QQ for pve player QQ
A: Ya ya have a nice day in your PvE channel

Q: But what happens if smart and skilled people are doing insane damage/cc rotations to avoid the 4 second invinciblity buff
A: You are ■■■■■■

Q: How can we do quest bosses together if we cannot party up
A: You are on a PK channel…who cares for a clumsy Quest boss?

More Q&A to come - again feel free to discuss or bash the above idea - should/could/can be improved for sure to make it more fun and even more balanced for single player - might setup an optional party PK channel too

-Just my thoughts on a PK channel-

Don’t really see the point of not being able to party up, that just promotes the best 1v1 class rather than group compositions. Basically telling the majority of clerics and any other support class that they shouldn’t participate.

The bloodlust idea is interesting though too easy to exploit, get alt/friend alt and kill bunch of times for exp bonus. I dont think any bonus is necessary, just a channel where you can pvp (mostly) freely.

Bonus sounds good lures more people into the PK channel - and PvPer feel like being honored for their high killing streaks
As for the abusing of bloodlust - well keep in mind you are not the only one who can “team up” and you still have to take into account that others are getting the invincible buff if they are getting hit by 3 diff sources in 4 seconds (might adjust this) So you need some kind of “strategy” to compete in “semi party fights”
in addition to loosing all of your stacks upon death
As for the party thing - already mentioned to make separate party PK channel with new conditions - ill think of some - so both solo and party ow fans gonna get covered

I think we should avoid distracting ourselves with such restrictive specifics. Things like this will only complicate our request.

You have some interesting ideas here to say the least, but for now let’s focus on the larger debate at hand. Reasons the channel and/or additional PVP features must be in the game – not what their specifics are made up of entirely.

Just my two cents though. As you’ve mentioned, those were yours, and there’s nothing wrong with that.

While I really love PvP - I don’t know if a Open PVP channel that would allow constant PKing and griefing would be ideal.

I can just imagine if some hardcore players just spent most of their time griefing people, when I was a young lad, this was one of my favorite things to do in older MMOs… Not sure if this is the correct way to implement this.

Definitely need a GvG type of map that isn’t arena though.

Just throw a level cap range in which you can attack someone. That should be enough. If you find yourself being “griefed” by someone your own level you could just switch back to a normal channel.

I think making it a optional channel solves most of the griefing problems.

Yeah, players who mind too much about things like that probably aren’t really too suited for something like a PVP channel anyway. It’s for players looking to spice things up a little bit throughout their standard day of questing/farming.

How is it griefing if people went to the PvP Channel knowing that there’s going to be PK?

If you get yourself killed by entering PvP, that’s no grief, it’s your own fault.
If you don’t want to get killed you can just stay on the safe side.

Besides the various PVP modes/content we want added, what are all of your opinions on enabling a Dueling feature in the game?

This could be allowed on any map outside of a city to prevent added FPS drops for players with bad PCs. Simply right-clicking a player and choosing Duel would ask them if they wanted to accept a duel or not. This would pretty much be the same way WoW and many other games handle it.

This is a feature that seems to be a no-brainer when it comes to implementation. Like the previous topics, we just need to show IMC Games that there’s a demand for it.
