Anvil’d Circle Rod if you upgrade
Anvil’d Superior Corona as the practical option after that
Cata club if you don’t upgrade
Maces magic attack doesn’t improve with upgrades so the above rods beat out Cataclub once you throw some anvils.

and what about the subweapon? Arde? Karacha? Venom? Beetleback? Aias?
Depends on what you’re doing.
Arde will never be the best subweapon.
Your bread and butter isn’t in OoB but possession.
Venom/Karacha fit this best however, for the possibility that you get hit.
Ledas Shield is a great alternative or using a Health Shield if you’re trying to meet a certain health threshold.
