So, some friends want to give it a go in this CBT but are not familiar with the mechanics, which class would you recommend? I’m going between archer and warrior trees
Most Swordsman classes aren’t difficult to play.
Here’s a topic about this… kinda
Generally however, the mechanics are fairly easy but if someone really didn’t know anything and wanted to ease into it, I’d suggest Swordsman like everyone else since you just move around and whack stuff.
Whenever you don’t kill something in a few hits normally, just use skills to kill them and it’s just a click and use skill generally. If you go for a buff build, just buff before ever doing anything and you’ll be fine.
Yeap what just they suggested swordsman and spam pots you’re good to go.
isn’t wizard good too? they have tons of aoe skills
Wizard is okay at solo because they are really reliant on skills. If you’re out of SP and your pot is on CD, you’ll have to take a break. If you have all your skills on CD, you can only auto attack one enemy at a time at a fairly slow rate.
Swordsman however can rely on both auto attacks which can hit multiple enemies at once at a fairly fast pace (not sure if it does have a faster base attack speed or not) and have either active skills to burst out damage or self-buffs which are pretty damn good.
I’m ignoring criticals, blocks, and evasion because both magic and physical have their pros and cons.
So this raises a question, why didn’t anyone suggest archer? Seeing as Archer>>>Sniper was the newbie path most of the time in Ro for what I remember.
Is there something I’m missing about Archer tree?
Well Archers have to target their skills instead of just casting them by pressing buttons so that increases the level of complexity a bit if you have a very mobile enemy.
Of course you can say that some of the jumping/throwing skills of Swordsman makes it harder but a majority of the skills only really require casting then moving around to attack or casting then just letting the animation happen at least from what I’ve seen.
edit: this also somewhat goes into Wizard skills as well considering they have manual targeting but their SP problem seems more of an issue than this IMO.
Archer has the worst resource management in the game. They’re the most SP intensive class in the game, as well as being the most expensive in general.
This is something that needs to be addressed, but regardless they’re the hardest to play. I mean, the official ratings of difficulty is:
Swordsman < Wizard < Cleric < Archer
[pretty sure that’s the order, but wizard and cleric might be swapped, but I don’t think that’s the case]
Here’s where I stand
1st
Swordsman - You just needs pots and smack everything you see haha.
2nd
Cleric - for me yes cleric you have heal and everything though at first the DPS is not that great but eventually as you advance as I’ve seen in the forums you can get some DPS skills specially if you will go monk path.
3rd
Wizard - is quite good spam your skills and make sure you use them wisely so you can cycle your skills better and make sure you have many mana potions.
4th
Archer - You would need to move around more often to get far away from your enemies and you would need mana pots if I believe, one top just don’t get hit take advantage of your range haha.
i just recently interested to play healer classes in MMO… hoping to make cleric/priest
i wonder if they are viable to solo? or need party play with em at early levels?
It’s possible to solo with a Cleric even as a support Cleric but your issue would be how much damage you do while soloing. It will take you a longer amount of time to solo even story bosses because of your damage. If you somehow save up for a pet however, I think that would somewhat help with your damage issues but generally as a support, you’d almost always want to be in a party IMO.
P.S. You’ll easily get into a party since everyone always likes heals… It lets me become somewhat more stupid and super aggressive against all mobs to kill them faster.
ill find out once CBT2 starts… hopefully i wont be tempted to go MONK when i play my cleric XD
Ok, thanks for clearing that up, Archer is a no-no for newbies
Also I’m with you Enlainzer, going to monk this cbt
I’m curious, but why are you worried if it’s newbie-friendly?
Despite which class is ‘easier’ to play, I think Garrnett is right.
The mechanics are really basic. Hit until they die.
Get a skill build if you’re that worried.
Play whatever you think you like. It’ll turn out fine, more likely than not.
Hi, I’m pretty new here, but I just took a look at the cleric skill tree on the skill simulators and realized they don’t really have any damage skills in the beginning? Do they just kill stuff via auto?
I’m kinda worried that my friend might get bored if she picks a class that gets too complicated early or that maybe has a slow power progress at the beggining and she doesn’t have a preferred class at the moment do I was asking so I could know which class I could recommend
@Ezkizo-desu
There really is no class that gets too complicated early on. (unless you get confused by hitting things…)
As for progress at the beginning, that’ll rely more on the rates than anything and all classes are designed to be offensive early on.
Can’t Cleric actually get complicated in the beginning with INT and STR choices and their Rank 2 which sets you on your path towards Buff Support, Heal Support, and DPS? Either that or I just am not built for Cleric classes lol.
