Seems like youâre looking for these:
I have still seen interest in corsair on the forums however it seems to mostly be for pvp now.
If anyone wants a decent Corsair.
Could you please explain me how does this build works? I donât quite understand some skill choices on it.
thx for replies guys but I think corsair is RIP now
I can go swordsman2 barbarian3 then doppel
or swordsman2 barbarian3 then fencer
or swordsman1 petalta1 hoplite3 doppel
Level 3 Bash is able to knock down a target when possible, once you get the attribute.
Pain Barrier Level 2 is 16 seconds of high resistance to Knock Back/Down, an Staggers. Which is actually pretty important when you want to be steady on your feet while dishing out damage.
Thrust will be your main damage in between cool downs earlier on mainly. (Later on, like in Corsair C2, your basic attacks should make up the damage in between cool downs somewhat. Thrust also uses SP as well.)
Pommel Beatâs armor penetration works on Small-Medium targets even if theyâre not stunned. Which is pretty useful since small-medium sized targets are common. Itâs good until later on when you get better skills.
Cleave increases your Critical Rate by +50. Thereâs also the fact that it is able to hit multiple enemies at once which is useful. It also deals additional damage towards stunned enemies.
Helm Chopper stuns your target.
Warcry increases your physical attack, and reduced the enemyâs physical defense.
Frenzy increases your physical attack for every hit you do on the same target. It stacks up to a specified maximum.
Seism hits multiple targets with good damage and has a chance to stun them.
You can capture enemies with Iron Hook and then use Keel Hauling for decent damage to hurt them while they are immobile. Keel Hauling also applies a bleed, the damage of the bleed is decided on your STR.
Hexen Dropper and Dust Devil are probably your main damage output besides Keel Hauling.
Double Weapon Assault will make your DPS better in between skill cooldowns.
why is corsair âripâ? because of the barb nerf?
exactly
savagery was so good
Corsair is not dead. Remember most attack skills on corsair hit twice: once with weapon and once with subweapon.
Each hit is calculated by adding your base attack damage (str and weap/sub) onto the total skill damage. This means your str bonuses are added twice: once per weapon.
Remember that TOSBase only shows the skill damage without your additional base damage, and doesnât adequately express âper hitâ damage with corsair skills.
Skills like Frenzy and Gung Ho will really work well with Corsair still, and its late-game damage will scale well due to STR affecting both weapons.
Currently, we have very little applied evidence to go on, so weâll have to see how Corsair is once ppl report in during CBT. Nonetheless, build theory is still strong for it.
Yeah ok so OP asked what is the highest DPS Swordsman, this is it with a primarily DEX build, rest in STR.
Basically its Highlander 2H mastery + Warcry + Frenzy + Deeds of Valour. However some of those skills have downtime so youâll have the highest DPS for around 40 seconds then slightly lowered DPS for 40. Also that build will make you a glass cannon, just be aware.
@Cecil It is definitely a high DPS build, but I wouldnât say it is the highest. You suggest running this build with DEX, but that drags out your Deeds of Valor stacks. While DEX will make a swordsman survive better than using CON, the high dodge may keep the swordsman from getting all 5 stacks before the duration runs out on DoV. Nonetheless, it is still a nice damage/aspd buff, and will be able to maintain temporary big damage. Running the same build with CON limits your crit, but allows you to stack DoV consistently. As you already mentioned, survival is a bit of a problem. It may prove very effective as a DPS option with strong supports, and definitely is one of the highest DPS builds for swordsmen. With a really high evasion, the only benefit of DoV is the aspd, as it seems to be unrelated to the skill stacking, and is instead a flat bonus throughout duration.
Below, you will find a corsair build that is comparable.
Jolly Roger grants a 5% damage bonus for every enemy you kill. Hitting a 50% bonus is not that hard, and each flag lasts 120 seconds, with only a 16 second cooldown. This means you can always have a flag up. It is not clear if it gives a base damage bonus too, but I notice Steparu always puts one down during a boss fight.
Dust Devil and Hexen Dropper both deal quick successive strikes, using Frenzyâs bonus more often than a single-hit skill. The damage of both these attacks is deceiving, because TOSBase does not account for successive hits for the listed damage. Each hit will include your base phys damage, and a chance to crit. Both attacks are also Overheat skills, and can be used more than once before going into cooldown.
Due to Double Weapon Assault, the base attack speed of the build is almost twice as fast as a base swordsman. DoV can reach a similar speed, but I am unsure how close the two are. The faster you attack, the faster Overheat cools off, aiding further use of your Overheat skills, free of cooldown. Double Weapon Assault is the poor manâs DoV, having a similar cooldown-to-duration ratio and buffing attack speed, but it doesnât have the damage buff or defense reduction. As I mentioned, this damage buff can be made up for by Jolly Roger, without lowering defense. Nonetheless, there is another benefit to Double Weapon Assault: because you will be attacking around twice for every one attack other players do, buffs to damage or attack speed from other party members go an extra mile. This means, the better your supports, the more damage you will deal. This is pretty important when you are hunting bosses in a party. When future class ranks are unloked, going for Doppel will allow you to stack DWA with DoV (assuming there arenât other options youâre considering).
This build also comes with a number of crowd control options to help you live longer:
Bash (Attribute: Knockdown)
Restrain
Helm Chopper
Dust Devil
This build can effectively go DEX and STR, aiming for high evade, high damage, and high crit. With a bit of crowd control, it can survive better than most straight-edge DPS builds.
This game is very nuanced in how it handles combat and build meta. Usually, a single goal can be reached through several different ways, and that is part of the beauty of the system. Still, everything comes with a grain of salt. We are theory-crafting, and trying to account for applied in-game mechanics while weâre at it. Once we get to fully apply the theory, things will change. No plan is perfect. Here is a nice video I found of a lvl.128 corsair (spear/dagger) fighting enemies 5 levels down. It doesnât use my build or anything, but it showcases Dust Devil, which a lot of people havenât seen.
hey ,thanks for sharing.
any idea on how attributes go? pure str or dex?
Personally, I prefer the 1 STR 2 DEX ratio, giving you high evasion (to compensate for your paper defense) and critical chance with considerable attacks and critical damage. That along with Barbarian/Corsair route lets you dished out massive hits in almost an instant.
What is the Str to Dex ratio?
Got it , thanks again
It means how much you put your points into your stats allocation. For example if you go Pure STR route, meaning you have to put all your points into STR only. Ratio stats is basically a mix, for example the STR to DEX ratio means how much points you put into those two. If you like a 1 STR 2 DEX ratio, you have to put 1 points into STR and 2 points into DEX everytime you get 3 points to upgrade. Something like that.
Sorry I knew what that meant. I was trying to see what @Simbaoshi had for his stat build for the Corsair build. Thanks for the reply anyways.
Or were you saying that as a general swordsman stat build?
1 STR 2 DEX is quite common for the Corsair/Barbarian route. You can also go for 1 STR 1 DEX or Pure build etc. depends on your play style.
