I’d say Wiz2>Linker1>Chrono3>Thauma2, going Thauma 3 at Rank 9 for the best overall support.
CryoChronoSage is pretty much situational and only viable support for Classes that have no capabilities to gather monsters,cc them and/or deal addtional damage against frozen targets (e.g. Peltasta Murmillio,Elementalist). Ice Wall is nice to have, but at the same time you also could get a cryo-kino in the party that deals damage and has a maxed icewall.

Linker is optional, as level 15+ Lethargy is a pretty good support skill and 5 linked monsters every 22 seconds isn’t the best possible support (might become better if you advance to Linker 2/3 with Rank 10&11).

Wiz2 litteraly offter nothing … A cc mob won’t attack soo lethargy isn’t going to do much if you compare it to cryo/chrono
Link1 (Link break too fast seriously you need premade team that know you gona link and not gona waste it on something like an auto attack with some additional ligne… I did saw a video of Link3/Chrono3 x 2 in solomik floor with a premade party. It can be viable but not with random guy)
Chrono3, It good nothing to say.
Thaum 2 offer some good team damage boost but most of the time you lost a lot of it when people doesn’t use dagger or aren’t Magic attack based (with thaum3) But you also got shrink body which is amazing but a really small aoe in front of you (Melee range)

I’m using ET (Earth tower) Mostly to point out why I cryo3 is still probably the best support mage you can make with chrono.

Not taking cryo 3 because some other player can gather mob… Nobody… NOBODY gather mob closer and faster than a cryo tree. Even range mob get compacted together that why people use it. Only time I see a cryo not use in ET is because they use something like linker3/chrono3(That basically do the same job but with BIG extra damage and mostly only usable in premade play) OR the floor is just easy enough to have nobody compacting the mob together.

TLDR: The plain old Cryo3/Chrono3/sage as made is proof. There a reason behind it why it good as a support and why it the top 1 chrono build.

Anyway… That how I see it.
If you wanted a dps build with chrono… That something else and because most of the powerfull dps build are around chrono rank or doesn’t really profit from it.

I dont think CCsage is “situational”, With that build, you’d be VERY good at grinding parties/ET/Bossing.

One of the reason why its popular its because of its synergy and compatibility with other classes.That’s why CCsages are welcomed in open arms in terms of party-content.

Sadly your suggested build, like the other poster said, isn’t very optimal.

What do you recommend for PVE???

Cryo/Chrono is good in a lot of things, but they are not optimal for a bossing party, the only thing that you give is Pass and the Cryo part is useless.

what’s the point of max icewall without party member that can put the icewall to good use ? wouldn’t it make more sense to leave ice wall at level 10 ? what do you people use it for ?

actually tbh Crychrono is for crowd control and chrono for haste(crit rate buff) and haste(evasuon buff) cryo 1-2-3 is the best support you’ll ever want, ice tree is soo good for ET 2nd floor. Sage is also good missile hole for 290 dungeons and any ranged class is welcome addition.

Your build,however, only works with Archers and Swordsman (and maybe Monk/Inquisitor). CCSage offers ± nothing to magic damage dealers (gathering mobs is not necessary if you’ve got 5 players that can stand close together to lure the mobs to a certain spot). In fact, it would be better to drop Chrono in favor of just going Thauma 3, but still getting Chrono for physical damage dealers isn’t so bad for an overall damage supporter build.

The reason why I chose Linker1 is because Wizard C3 only increases your measily damage and/or boosts the damage reduction of Lethargy. PyroC1/Chryo C1 are pretty bad alternatives unless you’ve got a Chaplain or Reiter in your party (Enchant Fire additional damage line). You could exchange Wizard 2 for Pyro C1 if you really need the line,though.

So Joint Penalty,Hangmans Knot & Shrink Body/Swell Body are a nice combo for farming/killing some stuff every few seconds, with the possible prospect of going Linker C2/C3 later on (unless there’s a better supporter out there at Rank 9; Spiritual Chain and Lifeline are pretty useful,especially if you’re also Chronomancer that can keep the skill up quite a bit).

Btw, Joint Penalty is a nice skill if you know what you’re doing.
If you use your strongest single target skills on the monsters, it’s pretty awesome to wipe mobs. If you throw AoE skills,not so much though.

Thauma offers damage boost for everyone, that’s why he should be included in every build. Even if you’re just autoattacking with your Chronomancer, because of Quicken, you can deal some awesome autoattack damage (even more if you’re also Pyromancer for 1 additional line) because of your boosted matk.

And if you’re using a shield, you get some really decent defence boost.

Btw,it’s not so hard in ET to talk everyone to use a dagger when buffing up before starting the stage.
After the buff, you’ll have the buff for 5 minutes with the upcoming updates, so that is an easy press of a button to swap gears for additional atk/matk that’s worth at least 3-5 stages of weapon transcendence. That’s also good because it’s one of the only few ways to boost your damage once you’ve reached transcendence stage 10.



Last but not least, if I had to choose, I’d rather invite a CryoKino additionally in the party to gather mobs, because he can gather and immobilize mobs better(more CC skills like Magnetic Force, Raise, Gravity Pole,Swap) and has damage to nuke bosses(Rune of Ice, Ice Wall& Psychic Pressure).

Once you switch weapon the buff also update. You can’t do that.
Lot of player will have something else than a dagger as secondary weapon or have a 2 hand weapon.
Most of the time you only give the first thaum buff to player at this lvl. That around 650 (With 400 in (int+spr)) or something like 2Lv of transcendance ? maybe a bit more than 10% dps increase on overgear character.

Soo Now magic circle can hit the whole map it seem because it pointless to group up mob for thing like masterma/frost cloud and a load of other spell? Also the cc is pointless because mage are clearly all super tanky with 100% invest in con and transcend armor.

For solo play… Ok that something else but random party unless you kill a bunch of mob out of the group… It pretty much useless as it break instantly before you even get time to cast litteraly anything not even hagmanknot.

Cryo3/chrono3/sage… There a reason why it is meta… If you don’t like meta feel free to do something else because this is meta support mage. But right know it like you were calling this meta build almost … bad and situational.(It not that I dislike other support build or anything… But right not it just a lot of misinformation you are giving.
That you like it or not. Build in the top rank are there for a reason, that reason is because they are good build.
Other support build like thaum or linker3/chrono3 are WAAAAAY WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY more situational to be plenty effective mostly linker build that really need a team based on it to be stronger than cryo3 and that is hard to find and … well imagine 5 guy how hard it is to make a party that will always play together… Not easy seriously…

Lol, Swell Left Arm is a lot stronger with the right gears. You can easily buff over 1000 attack with good gear (you seem to have forgotten that the multiplier scales with skilllevel; with a Varv Gem and Divine might, level 17 Swell Left Arm gives you and your party 3,4x[(0,6xINT + 0,6xSPR)^0,9]x1,5(level 50 attribute) +262.
That’s ~960 attack with a low amount of INT& SPR of 400.

However, with the help of Transpose, you can easily achieve way higher amounts of INT, and you can get high SPR and CON gains from gear(e.g. Skull Smasher, Vienti Oksinis Armor, 30 SPR from 3x 10* new SPR cards,the new level 315 unique accessory set for SPR)&armor enchant [you can get up to 3 CON for every 20 SPR you have and transpose them into INT], making a total value of over 800 manageable.

So that’s over 1400 patk/matk for this skill. You’ll get another few from Swell Right Arm, which is totally worth it imo: 2,4x[(0,6xINT + 0,6xSPR)^0,9]x1,5(level 50 attribute)+155. With 400 INT/SPR that’s ~650 patk/matk.

Now if you got Swell Brain for additional 50 INT (level 6 with DM) that’s another 180 patk/matk on top. So even at the worst scenario your Swells will give around ~ 1800 patk/matk.

if we look at how this translates, we have to compare it to a good weapon, e.g. the Skull Smasher. Skull Smasher has 1031 - 1140 attack and 1085 matk at trans stage 0. At trans stage 10 it has 3093 - 3420 and 3255 matk.

That’s a difference of 2062-2280 patk and 2170 matk. If we put that against our increase of 1800 patk and ~2500 matk, these swells are better than transing your weapon from 0 to 10, and that’s with a low amount of total INT&SPR of around 450.

Thauma3>Chrono3 is the best booster because he boosts both physical and magic attackers (magic users will become beasts with his buffs), the Linker is optional for some additional easy kills/loot. No way in hell can a simple Frost Pillar and some Ice Wall compensate for a whole party of bulky monsters. But sure, stay ignorant; I’ll build my ChronoThauma at Rank 9 and laugh at you :slight_smile:

Linker3-Chrono3 (not very viable and painful to play cos everyone loves to break ur links - both allies and enemies.)

Some gimmicky thauma chrono3 build that probably wouldn’t work either
