Battle League and Zoomy addon

This same problem happened in Ragnarok Online, where if you had a mod that extended camera zoom out and were playing a ranged class like an archer, you could shoot at maximum range, even if they would not normally be in your field of vision.

Candy mountain yayyyy!!!

There’s a reason why the devs limited the game zoom in and out.

Any addons that alter any elements of the gameplay are not allowed and are punishable by temporary or permanent ban.

If I buy a super high resolution monitor, I could also see more of the screen without zoomy. Zoomy bridges the gap between those who have an extra $200 to spend on a fancy monitor and those who do not.

You can change the FoV anyways. Doesn’t matter if you do it in a better way (Zoomy) Or the ā€œbuggyā€ way ( buggy because it messes up with the position of the names)

First, the add-on is made before battle league. Its purpose is not to use and exploit in battle league. Therefore, even the original goal of the add-on is innocent, it is now inappropriated and illegal cuz of exploiting.
Second, the add-on is not presented to everyone therefore people who don’t know about it or don’t know how to install it will be put in disadvantage.
Third, this exploit of the add-on in battle league destroy completely the design of it. We suppose to observe the opponents and guess who they are, their skill set and many other things during battle. I would say that’s survival of the fittest and that’s how battle league is designed. The add-on is now like a cheating equipment. How is it fair when your opponents can see all your movement, casted spells, and already prepared to counter it?

If the devs don’t want people using it all they have to do is add a scripted zoom effect at the beginning of arena when everyone is frozen in place like the start of pve quest boss fights, zoomy stops working until you go through a loading screen when this occurs.

Simple.

At Tree of Savior, when you enter in a Cutscene, your zoom is forced to back to normal and you can’t change it anymore even with the Zoomy addon, but not forever, if you want to do something you still can: just change channel / map or relog

If IMC enforces a quickly cutscene before the match starts (under those long 60sec of waiting) then the problem is solved

You forgot one thing, the dev doesn’t own the add-on and players use it with their own risk.
They may have plan for the add-on later and the battle league was designed without add-on involved. So if you use them, you risk yourself getting banned later on for exploiting purposes in battle league. Or, the game may crash often and you lose rank cause of add-on, either both of those reason.
I don’t say the add-on is bad, but we’re evil af.

Zoomy needs removal and to be banned. It’s messing up arena and destroying guild battles. Guilds are just rushing the tower immediately knowing exactly where it is.

I use zoomy because I like taking nice pictures of the game and my character >3<

Zoom addon like this is 100% illegal in competitive game like DotA / LOL. Field of View in pvp is part of the game play, so basically, this addon altered the gameplay.

I go against banning such beautiful add-on just because some ass exploit it in battle league.
Ban it from battle league, ban it from the game is no noooo.

What is the range of Musketeer’s Snipe skill? Zoomy addon is game breaking if Musketeers can sniper outside the normal view range. Zoomy addon is also game breaking for Elementalists waiting for enemies to walk into their Meteor AOE.

I’d like to see this add-on bannable and be indirectly ā€œcompensatedā€ with the ability to zoom out slightly more than the base client currently allows. Not nearly as far as Zoomy allows you to but same idea.

They could also likely reduce the draw distance slightly (10-25%) without hurting anything, though this wouldn’t be necessary if they simply ban Zoomy users and increase the distance we can zoom in and out a little.

I’d also really like if add-on creators used their heads a little more. I realize this was likely an oversight but it does hurt players who don’t use the addon, which is not okay. I personally only use EXP Viewer and nothing else, but I’m still grateful for addons. I’d hate to see them state all add-ons are illegal if they keep having to sort which are and aren’t.

White knighting is fun isn’t it? Brah people change language pack all the time. Get over it LOL Even if zoomy is banned people will start changing the field of view this way as well.

tbh this is kinda unfair for non-addon users in battle league / gvg. ur opponent can determine which position/spot your in and thats a BIG problem when they cast spells/ skill on the spot you are about to step on.

Higher resolution doesn’t improve the view range in this game. Tested on my friend’s 4k laptop and Full HD monitor… And I play on a QHD monitor… All have the same field of view.

IMC will probably prohibit its use so they can ban anyone using it afterwards. I do agree a little more zoom out would be nice but archers would have it quite a bit easier. But using zoomy to see the whole PvP map? that’s an absurd advantage.

Having a way to zoom in and out all you want outside the arena would be perfect, but enforcing it in the arena seems tricky.
