Based on my stats, is it better to go Fencer or Doppel?

Hi, I’m currently a 160+ Pelt>Barb C3 and my original plan is to go Fencer>Doppel. My stats are roughly 200:50:70 Str:Con:Dex. I mainly play as tank/dps.

I went high str as opposed to high dex even though I’m aiming for Fencer, cause I read somewhere here that ultimately, str is better for any swordsman (rank bonuses, additional points) since you can get your evasion and crit thru items. But I’ve also read a lot abt high dex Fencers being the better and generally preferred build by many.

So:

  1. Is it still advisable to get Fencer even though I have a relatively low dex or is it better to go Doppel C2 rather than Fencer>Doppel? I really want to go Fencer, though.

  2. Is evasion really a big deal at late game (I know magic damage can’t be evaded) or or should I just pump con?

  3. Is it better to have a high consistent damage or a high crit rate for a Fencer?

It would be helpful to get feedback from high level swordies out there since I’m still fairly new to the game. :smiley:

you can go both, doppel is way over fencer, but i you really like fencer then go fencer c7, is not that fencer is bad, actually is kind of good but because it allow you to use rapiers (pierce) and 0 cd skills plus none of them is bad at c1 compared to the c7 classes.

Yeah, I get that Doppel is way better in terms of DPS. That doesn’t answer any of my questions but thanks anyway. :wink:

Basically, you can make both Fencer and Doppel both hi-dex and hi-str. Fencer can easily pump his block rate as well.

In terms of pure DPS, Dex ofc < Str, but it also gives you dodge without exactly taking anything from your CON. It’s also true you can’t dodge magic ofc.

High crit rate is achieved with gearing your char. You don’t need over-the-top dex investment for crit rate. I have 357-377 crit rate at lvl 279 and I’m satisfied.

Thus, you can really go both, even if at the same time. Just pls note that on kTOS, there is a Cleave buff where it makes target vulnerable to Slash => Barb3-Doppel wrecks everything. And then again - Fencer has no AoE at all, making him simply A PAIN.

From your experience, does dodge really help a lot or can you compensate the lack of it by having high hp and block rate? (Assuming you have either) And how much dodge is “enough” to have a decent dodge rate?

Yes, I’m also hoping that the buffs on Barbs come here to iTOS. Basically, my two path choices would include Doppel in them because Cyclone. :slight_smile: Being Fencer>Doppel or Doppel C2

Whatever path I choose, do you suggest that I continue pumping my str, since i have a 3:1 str:dex ratio right now or is it a bad choice to make it 2:2?

based on your stats, its better you go for doppel …

if you go fencer with low dex like that …
its like, you dont bring 100% of fencer’s skills …

Can’t comment on high dex as I never levelled a dex char past lvl 200.

My current swordie only ever spent 15 points into dex.

Tho, in duels those full-dex lads are REALLY hard to hit.

How exactly? Can you elaborate on this?

Can you grind solo at 200+ with that dex or being in a party is mandatory?

Lvl 210+ you’ll want party at all times.

Around ~265 you can grind in a party for 11-15kk/hr, or you can grind solo for 5-7kk/hr if you’re lucky. Grinding solo will also require much more silver investment to gear, condensed pots, dispeller scrolls and ofc attributes. I did a lot of both.

Fencer = tanky and if you have a good ping then you can do those mind blowing combos.
Doppel = spin2win

^ Pretty much this, however I’d like to add with Fencer on the future update, you can use your Flanconnade skill with the slash buff. Depending on the attri level, points invested in Flan (usually people go one, but with this buff, it may be worth a higher investment), the fact it’s no cool down and depending on the duration of vulenerability to slash - it may just surprise you! Would it beat out Dopple damage wise? Probably not, but it would still be great, and you’d have all those other nice combos + utility for tanking.

Sorry, what does kk/hr stand for?

As you might have read, i was contemplating if I’d still be viable if I’d go Fencer>Doppel with my stats or if Doppel C2 would be a better choice. But, I really want to try Fencer for those dope combos and unique fighting style. So, yeah, I guess I could continue with my stat build and still take Fencer>Doppel.
