Barbarians are still really good as a class!

Watch how OP the class combo is with these 2 videos. (Savagery + Dagger)

I’m definitely going Barb + Corsair now.

That was before they added the NDA so that’s old content. BUTTTTT it’ll probably still work the same way … we all stalk Step…

Well it was uploaded 30 mins to an hr ago, the videos are also using the current update after all the changes.

here’s a highlander c3 -> corsair combo as well.
probably not as strong as barb corsair tho.
but that “moulinet” skill looks epic with dual wielding lol.
Starbust Stream from SAO :stuck_out_tongue:

If you read the info bellow the video, it says the content was before the NDA. It’s still probably going to work the same way. But it’s not from the extended Beta.

I already asked Step, he said this is current patch and by old content he meant stuff that people knew about before extended. Basically only content added during extended can’t be shown aka dungeons, new skills, etc.

@SixPool I think step’s comment means the vid was shot during extended beta but since it’s not showing off any of the main changes/added features made during the extension the GM said it was okay to post. :v

Corsair looks really nice though, even if it isn’t top dps!! +_+

Yes that is what it meant.

I guess that makes sense. Lol. In any case, this is what I’m aiming for. So I’m glad it looks pretty badass.

Barbarian brothers! Barbs will rule the game world!

If we gonna make TOS an anime series, Barbarian Class will be the Main Character.

Interesting side note from the 2nd video: I count the max buff limit being 7 (buffs started getting overwritten at that point). At no point did either video show his class buffs passing 7. (feel free to correct me on this).
So Barb + Corsair watch out for those buff timings :stuck_out_tongue: (unless you got the krivis buff)

I play one in kcbt now it’s just an auto attack machine. It’s definitely fun, but weird because it’s more auto attack reliant with not too many good skills unless you go highlander. Highlander 1 is meh though and if you go Highlander 2 you just miss out on Barb. I still want to try highlander, but I’m still testing out stuff with barb.

If I had to play a Barbarian beyond Rank 4, I would go insane over the choice at Rank 5 between Barb C3, Corsair and Squire.

There isn’t a single choice in the class tree to be made that’s as hard as that one.

Easy choice, let me break it down for you.

Squire is a support role, all Squire buffs can be either bought or obtained by having another Squire in your party, so if you’re making a combat toon then forget about Squire.

Next is what weapon you want to be using:

  • If you want dual wield, go Corsair
  • If you want to use a 2H sword, keep going Barbarian

That’s it really, not rocket science there

Who thinks like that?

When I ask myself what class to play, I weigh the pros and cons of the classes in matters of how much fun and practical use they offer.
The way you explain it, you make it sound as if it’s all just a matter of how you want to look and what fighting-style you want to use. As if the only question in my head should be: Which role should I pick?

What does it bother me whether my character uses a 2-hand sword or dual wields? When you go down the Corsair route, you gain an immensely strong party buff with the Jolly Roger and the ability to Steal. You can hold your own with Subweapon Cancel so it’s not necessarily a worse choice from something like Barbarian C3 in terms of power.
When you go Barb C3 you can get your passive skills even further and then there is Pouncing and Giant Swing which are both very strong AoE skills, perfect for farming and not useless in PvP either. It’s also the best route from which to turn into the Doppelsöldner, which results in great skills again like Double Pay Earn.
And the Squire, only a money-maker class? Is it now? When you have more than enough spells from the Barbarian route to grind just fine and the next Goddess Statue from your grinding spot is several maps away, how more useful to a party could you be than by offering everyone repairs, storage and warp back to the leveling spot?

It’s not just a matter of which role to play, supportive, burst DD or DPS.
It’s a question of which path can you get the most out of at that point. All the other class choices are easy to choose from, because they differ so much from each other in terms of what you get out of them. It’s obvious which route I’m heading down with the Peltasta in comparison to the Highlander for example since one is highly defensive and the other offensive.
But here the core build already stands with Barb C2 at Rank 4, it’s not like you necessarily need more power in order to do well from there on. That’s also why the utility trees start to kick in around that time. You have to start thinking about which utility you want to gain benefits from. It makes no big sense to go Corsair C1 or Squire C1, because the truly useful skills for these classes only kick in at C2. And if you go down that route to C2, you will miss out on the Doppelsöldner. That’s why the Doppelsöldner has his own skill of the same nature with Double Pay Earn.
It will be a major changing point in terms of farming and grinding for you depending on which class you choose. Which are the core elements of the game so far with only the Arena PvP in sight.

That is why it is the hardest choice in the class tree to make.

Choosing between the Barbarian way and the Corsair way… It’s not that hard.
It’s a personal choice. Just make the possible build you want.
It’s not necessary to follow everybody’s choice, make your own one

Barbs, barbs everywhere lol
Barbarian makes everything stronger
they should put quarrel shooter after barb

What is this dagger cancel thing, i dont get it
?
