Barbarian [Stomping Kick] utility question

I understand the skill “Stomping kick” is not necessarily favorable in regards to damage. However, I am curious to know if it would be useful as a utility skill for air recovery, i.e. after being knocked into the air by some powerful air launching attack could stomping kick be used to recover quickly in mid-air? If this was the case then I very much think it would be useful to invest 1 point into stomping kick. I would appreciate any helpful input on the matter, thanks for your interest.

I don’t mean to be a nag or anything but just wondering if no one saw this question or if no one indeed has a helpful answer to this? If my question is unclear in any way please let me know, I would really like to know so I can avoid wasting the precious skill point. :frowning:

I don’t want to discuss about my favorite under-utilized unique Barbie skill.

You will ruin my secrets.

Stop talking about it!

Wah! I see, I apologize for my imprudence then. I will avoid exacerbating the issue then by elaborating any further. My silence is all that follows, good day. :X

I’m only kidding. Lets talk about it!

In iCBT2 Stomping Kick used to scale “With the weight of your boots.”
They have now changed it to scale “With the evasion of your boots.”

At level one the base attack is:

  • 219

With one level increase being: 52 attack and

At max level 15 the damage is:

  • 958

I would say that it isn’t worth investing more than 1 point into this skill unless you know how the mechanic works.

Usually leather boots have the most evasion stat.

Without using Lolopanther as an example, let’s use a typical grey gear you might use at high levels.

These have evasion of 114.

Now what I have no idea is how the 114 turns into damage.
It might be multiplied, added as 200% or 300%. I’m not sure.

  • No one seems to know or care so we have no real results.

  • No one seems to know how much height affects it.

I tested it in iCBT2, but as I mentioned it then used weight and my memory isn’t great but the damage from height was pretty crazy sometimes doubling or tripling the damage depending on the height.

#Why I do like the ability

  • It has 3 overcharges. Makes it a nice spam for just 1 skill level. AoE.
  • Scales with another stat than your physical attack. Not bad.
  • It’s a nice big area under you.
  • It’s the only skill that is used in the game specifically while jumping.
  • It’s fun as hell to use.

So you can use it while jumping and that then would be a set height you can achieve. Now I also played in iCBT2 however my gf plays barb not me so I am not too sure on the specifics of the class. What I am wondering though and do not recall all too well is: Can enemies knock you airborne (potentially higher than you can achieve with normal jump?) and then you use Stomping Kick to recover quickly to your feet while also doing damage proportional with the height achieved?

Additional note about boots:

  • Enchanting boots with an anvil increases your dodge rating
  • You can gem into more dodge rating
  • 1 DEX is 1 dodge rating
  • You can free dodge rating with levels
  • 1 level is 1 dodge rating
  • Swordsmen start with 6 DEX

Meaning at level 280 you have 286 dodge rating with 0 (zero) stat points put into your DEX.

That’s without boots at all. Full leather set would give you more free dodge.

It’s a nice 3 overcharge skill for heavy DEX builds.

Just not a lot of people realize this yet.

Usually when monsters knock you, they knock you down and you can’t use abilities.

Sometimes you can jump onto bosses and stomp their heads.

You can also jump off the boss and do a stomp.

Currently the terrain in ToS is mostly just flat, flat and flat.

Ah I see, well you raise some very interesting points that I will certainly mull over as I am convinced this skill has some potential and feel I am correct in the build I am putting forth to my gf. It would be very interesting if a class could do something interesting to artificially alter terrain somehow to utilize this better and also even help ranged classes. Like I would like to be able to create ice walls with my cryo and she could use them as stepping blocks to get higher and stomp the hell out of some monsters. :stuck_out_tongue:

Tell your gf to go Wizard.

At high levels she can turn into a giant and actually just jump and kill things.
