Barbarian Fencer tips

Highlander sounded good to me, until that Skyliner debuff. And I heard that one has to make a choice of either extensively using Highlander skills or extensively using Fencer skills, since they both offer spam damage skills. Did you use Highlander, by any chance? What is your opinion on Crown?

Thank you for your advice

Cleave and seism are frequently used. Helm chopper is used when a stun is needed. Warcry is used in big groups always. Pouncing is now comparable to retreat shot believe it or not.

Frenzy is actually bad

Frenzy is not worth the time it takes to make stacks at any value. The only use I’ve found for it is at rexipher because he succ your mana. The most efficient way to use it is just to cast it and not generate any stacks, but this takes up a pretty valuable buff slot

If you auto attack at all as a fencer outside of rexipher, you are severely hindering your DPS

as a barb fencer, you end using barb skill for cc and aoe ratio, frenzy is plain bad, cleave can do a lot of burst, helm is a good stun and a good strike skill, seims is … not really that good for dmg but nice for the cc, pouncing is good at this moment and work really well with crappy aoe ratio fencers, with fencer youwill most likely don’t highlander c3 skill as much as you want cause you have coquille, you major dmg will come from coquille-prep-lunge-step and composse spam, ofcourse cross cut skylinear will do a lot of dmg and can enter in you rotation but being a highlander fencer must be though with that aoe ratio, peltasta is not really great with the current change of guardian (first i will reach 280 with my doppel then procceed to trash my 280 fencer…) and reroll a fencer, without peltasta (not worth only for swash) the problem right now is that imc is kind of enforcing the fact that fencer need to pump a lot of dex and that will destroy the purpose of crossguard and then it come barb that will cover fencer weakness… at least in a pve scenario.
now to answer your other question… i really like a stat distribution oriented in str over dex, but with the new ranks i think that 3:2 or 2:2 (str:dex) will bring the most for a fencer.
for a pvp scenario ( i don’t like fencer in pvp atm, but it seem they will have a major role in rank3) you’re locked in sw1-?-?-?-cor1-fen2, i do thing that a sw3-barb-cor-fencer2 will work in a 1v1 situation (lunge+cleave=100% more dmg from double slash after you hook, coquille+prep+lunge).

IDK why barbarian fencer is popular though.

Cleave boosts slash skills

almost all of fencer’s skills are pierce. There is literally almost no synergy at all yet its popular. Imo if you are barbarian then the logical choice is to go doppel to boost its skills further.

I see, no frenzy then. Thank you

Lot of ideas in this post! I’m still on the fence (get it) about incorporating Corsair or not… I’ll have to look around. Thank you

I think they use it for CC, which Fencer lacks.

Well, cleave only boosted crit chance 50 just a while ago. Cleave debuff is a new thing for most barb fencers. I personally took barb to cover Fencer’s lack of AoE, stuns help with shutting down magic mobs and executing long animation skills. Barbarian also happens to be one of the only classes that has no weapon restrictions on their skills, Highlander is the same out side of Cross Guard. I’ve got Corsair in the build, so I was never going for pure damage anyway. Might make another Fencer that’s more offensive centred. We’ll see once we got the details of the new Fencer skills. I wish Hoptile skills were unable with rapiers, since like a perfect class to go along with Fencers, considering it covers Fencers lack of AoE with Finestra.
