As the title states, is doppel really worth taking? I ask this because later ranks in doppel don’t work well with hoplite. That means that when new content comes out, I will probably just leave that doppel at rank 1. I think I might be better of with a swordsman 3 for pvp or 1 rank in cata. Sure I lose good damge dealing skills, but as most skills, they won’t scale well later unless they change skill scaling in this game.
I will assume you going sw2> hop3> dop1> dragoon1 build.
If new contents are coming out, eg. rank 8, 9 and 10.
To get the best out of most things, you will probably go Dragoon 2 and 3 for rank 8 and 9. Leaving rank 10 for a final choice. Therefore it’s safe to say you won’t be picking a lower rank classes.
Doppel C1 provides
- DOV which is a straight attack boost by %
- Cyclone, an good aoe skill which hoplite has been missing.
- DPE which is godsend if you lucky enough to meet a shiny mob.
Cata C1 provides
- Slight mobility by default
- CC via impaler
- Earth wave for some “weak” AOE (level 5 max @ rank 6 for single circle)
- limited trot capability
Now you may ask which is better, Cata only worth it for C3 due to Rush and unlimited trot, C1 is kinda lackluster.
But anyhow,
If your thinking about pvp , hoplite is kinda a no go at the beginning.

What if a balancing patch makes doppel C2 skills able to use with 2h spears, for example?
But trying not to give you vague cliché answers, I’d like to point out that deeds of valor is a pretty neat skill for increasing physical damage (even only at skill lvl 5) and double pay earn stays as an utility skill regardless of future ranks. Even if you say cyclone will scale badly when we get 10+ ranks, I suppose 2 useful skills is enough to pick up a C1 class.
Yeah its a really bad class to pvp, as with most swordsmen class atm. Im just hoping for some buffs that will make it a bit more viable. Thanks for the insight. Can I ask how much points I should give to double pay earn and Mordschlag since I am maxing out cyclone and Deeds.
My reasoning for cata is that the skills might be lack luster, It has a great attribute that increases block penetration, and yes, the slight mobility
I would leave 1 point in DPE , and rest in Mordschlag as a strike damage dealer
You can manipulate DPE by finishing the mob with the last hit, casting the buff before landing a big skill such as Gae Bolg.
With bloodletting nerfed in Ktos, and if the nerf did transfer over here. Catagoon may just has a chance to be staple in PVP, it wasn’t that good before because got hard countered by CC immunity.
By catagoon you mean the swordsman 3 cata 3? Or are you referring to the hop3 c1 dragoon?
Sw3 > cata3> dragoon, cata really need c3 to shine due to unlimited trot and rush.
get c3 swordsman instead since ur SWc2 will be a waste if u dont get it IMO
Will C2 still be a waste even if I just take it to max pain barrier? I just don’t see pelesta being that useful in pvp.
I think permanent +25% HP and +25% block is really useful for PVP, followed by Hoplite Finestra it gives +50 crit rate, +10% block, and + 3 AoE ratio.
Very good combination in my opinion.
Is C2 Swordsman really that useless?
I heard that the 25% hp increase only increases max hp, your current hp stays the same and you need a heal?
Do yourself a favor and get DPE to 2 instead of 1.
Do you really wanna blow ur cooldown on say,a shiny mob,and it ends up living with 100 hp from your 1 hit?Having that 2 hits margin is way better(btw DPE is bugged and you can use it and let people in ur party kill stuff and still get rewards,its awesome on siauliai mission)
Mordschlag is extremely lackluster and level 3 is absolutely fine.
