Also, but this is my opinion, the way they put value to the founder pack isnāt coherent with MMO. 3months is way too long (even those planning to pay said so), and we lack too much info to be sure the pack is worth it for us or not. 50$ for an International version shows they didnāt really make a market research, most people outside NA/EU cannot afford it.
Personally, IMC could have said that the reason was mostly supporting/funding them, and I would have been totally fine with that =)

50 dollars for a closed beta is like paying for a sandwich with only the buns, also not everyone has a good economic situation to shell out 50 greens, stop living in a fantasy world where everyone has money to shell out for āopenā betas.

The problem is more on how they approach to their fan base, then announce a a open beta coming soon and after 2 weeks then announce a founder server for 3 months, if you canāt understand it you are retardā¦
Your example is flawed and Iāll point out why. Obviously if a person gives false promises then they lose the trust of whoever they were trying to convince.
However were not talking about a single person, this a company, with multiple people and driving forces behind the decisions thatās decided upon like by a board or many important individuals within said entity. I would take anything a business tried to sell me with a grain of salt.
Also wanting to support the game you like thats starting up by buying a package offered isnāt white knighting or throwing money at imc for a buggy game.
Iād say most people feel good cause they earnestly like the product being offered and donāt want to see it fail so their investing in the founder package, in imc, in having a long lasting game that has the means to stand on its feet.
My question to you is do you really think weād be paying for anything if imc just went full release f2p with a cash shop? Some will, but imc would lose out on a chunk of profit from a one time event, the release of the game.
A virgin transaction if you will. Yeah it hurts and sucks but itāll be more fun later down the line 
But you will get it for free. Ther after we wii pay and test the game for you.what you dont like here. Its not like the did what bd did.

Saying there will be an open beta soon and slamming the door on your face is just bad for the company ( Ie: new hamburguer in mcdonalds soon! but wait! pay 50 dollars and u can get it before anyone else)
This is how i see it.
IMC: Hey you well let you play and test the game and make it way better for the people that are going to come in the next few months and play for free.
me: Wow that great i get to catch bugs and test a game out for bugs and play early even though it going to be free in a few months. That fine with me.

Show me where did they say it will be a free open beta? FF14 have open beta but it was not for free. Dont think that open = free.

As far as we know, OBT start in June, not the full release, so bugs and such are still expected in 3 months.

The kind of bug Iām talking about are localisation, quest, xp/stats, items, AH and such. The kind of bugs that arenāt tolerate for a release.
An Open Beta is by definition open to everyone. The main goal of an OBT is to stress test the servers before release, to do so, you need as much people as possible (it also helps to advertise your game). This is true even for B2P subs games.
Now if a company is using the word Open Beta for Early Access, itās another story =)
Also League of Legends is a free to play game, a successful one, profitable oneā¦ You donāt pay to play, nor get scammed to pay 50USD or you donāt log inā¦
Even their PBE (EA forever) account is free, limited, but free
