Nah, there’s no alternative to this type of game as of right now, nor are there any in development as far as I know. Maybe in secret, yet to be revealed to the public.
I guess Lost Ark Online is somewhat similar, but that’s also a full on diablo style loot fest of a game and while ToS also has a lot of drops, it’s still not quite the same style.
If ToS turns out to be a fluke, I feel the future for 2.5D MMOs is rather dark.

Well, that’s true.
I’m honestly having a blast with Path Of Exile and the new Ascendancy expansion, that at this moment, I don’t really need Tree Of Savior.
But I’d like to play ToS again with people I’ve played with in CBTs.
From my experience in CBTs, definitely not a fluke, BUT it needs more polish, it needs boss AI reworked, it needs changes to the scaling of some skills. It needs more non-linear zones and things to explore away from the linear quest path.
There’s work to be done, but Tree Of Savior can run fine just on it’s basic design of combat. It’s a game where I actually had fun grinding, because attacking feels good, impact sounds and everything together, monsters exploding on kill.
For me, that alone and a lot of classes to advance through is carrying the game. If they fix all the problems in addition, it will be amazing.
I share the sentiment…but I don’t think all problems can be fixed sadly. We’ll just have to live with what we get. It won’t be a bad game by any means though.
Yeah, that’s up to them. If they continue developing the game and listening to the feedback, it can be great.
If they just blindly add new content that ONLY they think should be added, it’s going to get worse.
