Are there any protector builds? A class/build that focuses on protecting others, taking the dmg itself, buffing others? Something between Paladin and Peltasta I guess.
The quick answer is Peltasta. Pretty sure you’ll be able to find plenty of info on that around here in the Swordsman category with the search function friend.

A paladin is the ULTRAMET PROTECTION MACHINE.
No srsly, a spr based c3 paladin can block out all melle mobs from the party with barrier, and also adding insane amounts of magic defense from resist elements and barrier itself.
Along with its safety wall and perhaps if you throw in a c2 deiv with tree of silence you can do some amazing defense plays.
The only problem then is ranged physical damage mobs can just ignore what your doing. But if you have any CC teammates and they focus on thoes your party should be safe.
A Peltasta can grab all the mob aggro then proceed to die as nothing in the world can live up to the damage that endgame mobs are dealing.
Pretty sure not a single class can ‘tank’ them with only a shield, which is why CC or dmg mitigation is the way to go. Otherwise, everyone would be rolling Peltasta C3 by now.
The only reason any party would take one is because of Swash Buckling, that and swordsmen can also spec into Jolly Roger (Frosting on top, extra silver), Templar (Guild tags are important for epeen purposes and teleports), and Squire (Remote repair kit you kidding? Take one and stuff it in your pocket with you!) all the while being tanky and at least able to take some hits before going down.
